Heavy Ghosting with X3 Mode
I've been trying everything I can to mitigate the ghosting and edge blur with x3 (I have a 120hz monitor and am capping at 40fps. Is this correct for x3?), but have had no luck. All the LS settings I have tried with every permutation of vsync possible seem to have no result. So is this unavoidable? I read something about this possibly being an inevitability due to not being able to change the motion vectors, but I'm not sure. I'm guessing all we can do is wait on this aspect improving in the future. But I've not heard anyone mention the ghosting too frequently with x3 - so I'm not sure if I'm just among a handful experiencing this or not.

The only thing that might have slightly improved it is turning off HDR in LS and my desktop entirely. I've tried both 2.9 and 2.10.1.

x2 works just fine, with very minor ghosting.

Yes. As you already noticed a 60 x2 simply looks better than 40 x3.

Can we expect it to improve in future versions?

Maybe a bit, but don't expect miracles. It's sort of fundamentally a base-framerate problem. Lower base-framerate = bigger "gaps" between frames = bigger unknowns to the frame-interpolation model.

You can expect light improvement, but x3 mode is generally meant for higher input FPS to be able to get less artifacts or lagging (like 60).

Just to be clear, by base framerate are you meaning the FPS which the game would normally run at without the frame generation? Or the FPS that it's capped to? If the former, my games run pretty consistently at 100 to 120 fps with some exceptions - like a few of the newer AAA titles. So if that's the case low base-framerate shouldn't be an issue for me.

Someone might ask why I'm even using x3 if I don't need it. I'm mainly using it for the games that have cutscenes that are locked at 30fps, or emulators, etc. It's pretty stunning in that regard.

Agreed, fine use-case.

By base-framerate i mean the framerate you cap your game to prior to feeding it to LSFG.

*So 60 for x2@120 or 40 for x3@120

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.

If you can lock to a fully stable 40 with almost no fluctuations, you can switch to WGC and fine set the WGC, it will eliminate additional artifacts.

Cool, wasn't aware. I will try this. Thank you!

Do you know how to properly set WGC? As it requires some additional stuff, not just selecting it in the menu.

I do not. How do you do that?
