Lossless Scaling

Issue with Lossless Scaling App in Emulators (PCSX2, Citra)
I’ve been trying to use the Lossless Scaling app to double the frame rate in emulators like PCSX2 and Citra. I’m playing games like Tenkaichi 3, Pokemon Omega Ruby, and Yugioh GX Beginning of Destiny.

The emulator does double the FPS to 60, and it feels smooth. However, I’ve been experiencing a weird issue. Sometimes, randomly, it feels a bit slow, as if it’s back to the emulator’s default speed, with that 30ish FPS speed. This happens even though the Lossless Scaling scale is on and the FPS overlay of it keeps displaying 60. Then again, randomly, it goes back to that smooth 60-like FPS. I can visibly see it constantly changing.

I’m wondering if this could be because these emulators don’t have a fully stable locked 30FPS, with which Lossless Scaling could smoothly 2x to 60FPS? Or could it be because the emulator itself can have -1 or +1 FPS spikes randomly, which causes the Lossless Scaling LSFG framegen to go away temporarily during those spikes?

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My issue was that by default, PCSX2 presented duplicate frames in 30 fps games. This made LS "confused" and read a 30 fps game like a 60 fps one, displaying a 60/60 in its framerate counter. It was somehow improving framerate, but looked very choppy.
It wasn't until I activated 'Skip Presenting Duplicate Frames' in the Graphic Settings of PCSX2 that LS was actually able to detect 30 fps games correctly in the emulator and now Frame generation worked correclty.

Nice tip. Thanks.

So does the fps counter say 30 for you now? mine still says 60 and it still looks choppy

Yes 30/60. What game is giving you trouble?
The settings that worked for me:

Graphic settings/Advanced tab:
Skip Presenting Duplicate Frames: ON
Allow Exclusive Fullscreen: Disallowed

In Emulation:
Vsync OFF (and use the Vsync of LS if you want)
Optimal Frame Pacing OFF (not sure if this one is 100% neccesary as its OFF by default)

Same problem. Digital Devil Saga is definitely a 30fps game, but it always displays as 60/60(PCSX2)&60/120(Lossless) whereas I tested some other games that I could get to display 30/60(PCSX2)&30/60(Lossless).

Skipping duplicate frames doesn't solve the problem for this one because the game is programmed to output duplicate frames itself I would guess? It does work but I guess it might not be as smooth as it should be.

Check the Game Fixes tab in desktop mode. I had to activate OPH Flag Hack for Shadow of the Colossus, otherwise the game still had a variable framerate.
Also, maybe just as a test try software mode to check if the game display 30 fps there.
