Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Using this for a heavily modded Skyirm SE - how to?
5600x | 6700xt @ 1680x1050
In some situations i still drop below 60fps, sometimes even down to 30.
So i want to use LS to make sure i have constant 60fps (locked so physics dont go wonky)
But i cant even get this to run. What settings do i need to take care of?
Im starting the game via manual SKSE link in Steam (...\STEAM\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\skse64_loader.exe)
I disabled Vsync in Adrenalin, Bethini and enblocal.ini
removed any fps lock (for testing to just get this to run)
Set to borderless in Bethini

Any particluar setting in LS i need? Or anything else i missed?

When i use the SCALING button with the timed button in LS and than acivate the Skyrim window the Screen stays black and shows 0 fps top left. When i alt tab out LS crashes.
Any ideas?

This suggests it is doing atleast something.

Are you in windowed or borderless windowed mode?

Have you tried fully launching the game, clicking the mouse on it to focus the window and then pressing CTRL+ALT+S?

Are you using Reshade or something similar?

You could check if this setting takes when setting it via .ini by pressing the WIN-key
in-game and seeing if your start-menu displays without your display flickering as in changing display modes.

To rule stuff out you could try running in windowed mode.

I play with the Nolvus.

I simply use FG x2 to boost to 75 fps, max of my monitor.

I didn't need to change any display mode.

Yeah it shouldn't, but it would indicate Fullscreen Exclusive mode, which LS is incompatible with.

ENB is somethign similar to reshade yes - theres quite some thigns that come to play here regarding a modded Skyrim, thats why im asking.
The ctrl+alt+s while ingame also didnt work

Probably rules ENB out.

Is there a way you can run Skyrim unmodded?

I am a noob to skyrim, so I only rely on modpacks, which I don't know what have been tweaked :)

Is LS it set to DXGI and is this why it doesn't work? Skyrim is a relatively old game. You could try using WGC or GDI.

Well ENB is a must, and that link u posted confirms it works with ENB. Without ENB its no problem at all to run Skyrim with 60 stable FPS.

I'm just wondering if there's other stuff interfering with LF. Being able to run Skyrim unmodded could rule this out.

Have you tried different Capture APIs?
RunForRest Jul 1, 2024 @ 6:28am
Got it to work.
I missinterpreted the checkboxes regarding borderless and windowed in Bethini - BOTH need to be checked. The fps cap setting there can be ignored - it gets overriden by settings in enblocal.ini
[LIMITER] EnableFPSLimit=true FPSLimit=30.0
With LS activated and mode x2 - this ends up with nice stable 60fps (important because the physics and other stuff will go very wild and cause problems above 60fps, theres a mod to get rid of the limit, but i never tried that and its another thing that might cause other problems, so better to not use it, esp since Skyrim is totaly playable with 60fps)

Very good, thanks for reporting back!

And i've got a nice surprise for you, LSFG does not influence your game. Meaning you could, if you have a 120hz monitor and a capable GPU, set that limiter to 60.0 and Skyrim should work without issue.
RunForRest Jul 1, 2024 @ 6:33am
Thats even better, will try :D
I have indeed still one of the first 120hz monitors here that was available on the market 2009 or so. Samsung Snymaster 2233

*also the ctrl+alt+s still doesnt work but the timed scaling button in LS does it

Cant believe i can run Skyrim and ArmA3 finally with stable and acceptable fps.
No hardware upgrade below 2-3k euros was able to do that. Thanks LS :D
