Stuttering?
Anyone else experiencing severe stutter, when looking down it's especially noticeable. I'm on 3060ti, using x2 framegen for Elden Ring, I swear 60 fps feels way smoother. I read the guide and tips and did everything I could. I have a 144hz ultrawide. Am I missing something? I'm able to use it on videos and youtube and it's pretty damn good but games just tend to stutter a lot for some reason. Any advice?

Maybe you are GPU-limited? A framecap of 60 with x2 framegen to 120hz should bring good and smooth results in general. Set your monitor to 120hz for sync reasons, If it still stutters a bit and you are not GPU-limited set the framecap to 59 for a 120ht monitor setting.

Or cap the framerate to 48 (or 47 if you see stutters) with x3 framegen for 144hz.

Have tried that, still stutters, Elden Ring is not an exception. Getting same stuttering in any other game that I use this on.
Things I've tried:
- Limiting the framerate to 40 in the control panel to get a smooth 80 with double.
- Turning off VRR (I have Gsync)
- Turning Vsync on and off (both in the game, in NVCP AND in LS)
- Using different API (dxgi is still the best one)
- Using x3 framegen (x2 works better, x3 just makes everything way too blurry).
- Reducing actual game settings (I am constantly hitting 60 fps in Elden Ring either way so definitely not gpu limited).
Neither helped so far. Very curious as to how make this a smooth experience. It works for videos, at least.

You did not follow the guide. Set framecap to half your refresh rate for x2 framegen, a 40 framecap on 144hz can lead to stuttering. So either set the monitor to a different refresh rate or use a different framecap.

And turn on Draw FPS in LS, so if you set the monitor to 80hz and set the framecap to 40 for 2x framegen it should show 40/80.

I have tried those values after the initial tests which *did* include changing my monitor's refresh rate to 120 and then limiting the game to 60 fps which would double it to 120 again. Will try to limit it to 72 fps with 144hz for now, but somehow doubt it will fix the stuttering.

There will be no stuttering once you find the right setting. And iirc Elden ring is limited to 60fps in the unmodded version, so a limit of 72 won't work.

If that doesn't work try it with Vsync Off in the game, Vsync on in NVCP, monitor to 120hz, framecap 59 for x2 framegen (one below because of sync), Draw FPS on, check if the framerate counter shows 59/118, if not you are GPU-limited (for example it shows like 51/102), lower then graphics settings until it shows a stable 59/118. Or try Performance Mode On first before lowering the settings.

Most of the stutter is gone after capping to 47 and then using the x2 upscale. The only noticeable stutter is from LS not supporting VRR (you can really feel how not smooth it is after being so used to GSYNC). I guess that's the drawback of using it. Hopefully VRR support will be back. I can certainly tell the game is running at 80-90 FPS (and, well, I can see it as well on the screen), but not having VRR makes it pretty choppy imo. Also using x3 with 47 cap makes it even worse, x2 is where it's at.

If 47 works then 49 should work as well for x2 framegen, set your monitor to 100hz. And like I mentioned, lower your graphics settings to get rid of the stuttering.

Big update: The reason for stuttering was actually me not having two settings on in Windows, believe it or not. It is absolutely crucial to have these 2 in Graphics Settings in Windows:
1. Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
2. Variable Refresh Rate

After enabling this, it's extremely smooth and FPS is almost always doubled. I was actually amazed by the result.

Hi, i can not find the setting for Variable Refresh Rate in Windows Setting. Please help. Thanks.

Type "Graphics settings" in the search bar, should be in there (at least that's how it is on Win10, didn't use Win11 yet)
