Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling vs. FSR3 Nukem??
Hello all,

I have been looking into both FSR3 Nukem Mod and Lossless Scaling. I know other options may be available, and I am willing to learn about them. I have searched but can't find much information comparing the different options.

I am looking for a way to raise my framerate, realistically or artificially, so that I can fully utilize ray tracing and future-proof my setup more. I want the highest graphical fidelity possible while maintaining diverse compatibility. I primarily use Steam to launch and play mostly modern titles, but DLSS often falls short, especially with ray tracing enabled.

I don't really play ANY multiplayer games, so I am not worried about latency, etc. unless it will be a severe issue. I am just looking to get the highest graphical fidelity while maintaining an acceptable framerate. I also already have my GPU overclocked and undervolted. My TV is only capable of 60Hz which I am fine with being a singleplayer gamer.

PC specifications are listed below and any help would be appreciated!

TL;DR - I'm looking for the highest fidelity option to unlock frame generation and increase performance/framerate, especially while using ray tracing. Single-player games only. GPU is already overclocked and undervolted. Samsung 60Hz monitor and RTX 3080 12GB.

System Specs:

Monitor: Samsung 65AU8000 (4K, 60Hz)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB
CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K
RAM: 32GB TeamGroup 3200Mhz DDR4
Storage: 2TB Samsung EVO Plus
MOBO: MSI Z370 GAMING M5
PSU: Seasonic Focus PX-750 80 PLUS Platinum
OS: Windows 10 Home

Hey friend)
Shortly:
1)Better use monitor with high refresh rate, 120 HZ+
2)With help of this soft you can't INCREASE gpu power, you can ONLY ADD SMOOTHNESS to game or video which you see on display and ONLY in window mode, for 100% result.

Second thing is more important than first:Darling:

I personally can play CP 2077 with path tracing 1440p DLSS performance with all max(lite path tracing mod which add 10-15 fps), texture medium and npc crowd on medium too.Lock on 45 fps with 3070 ti and i can see 90 fps thanks to this programm, difference between real 90 fps not so much, only maybe some input lag.

Or more simple: try all settings for you system where you at limit of you specs without any crashes, stutters and use it.With help of LS you can double fps result.

Lossless Scaling enables frame generation for EVERY GAME, while FSR 3 Frame God can be enabled ONLY FOR CERTAIN GAMES.

Thanks for the info. As a single-player gamer, 60FPS is plenty for me. I enjoy gaming, as well as everything else on my PC in 4K on my 65" TV. I don't want to spend any more on a different monitor. I just want to be able to get close to 60 FPS with ray tracing on at 4K. I play 90% of games at 4K.

I can always get 60 frames or close with Ultra settings @ 4K w/o ray tracing, or Ultra settings @ 1440p w/ some ray tracing. Depends on how optimized the game is as well. Just need that extra boost when necessary and want to see what people think would be the best option.

Nukem mod works only like simulation of DLSS 3 Frame Generation to FSR 3 and that make it be used only in games with DLSS 3 option.Lossless scalling operates with any software or content in WINDOW mode.

I noticed that about FSR 3. I've already played/beat most games that are listed. I also have noticed that Lossless Scaling has been getting updated regularly and fidelity is getting better and better.

Then try locking the game at 30fps, where you can't reach 60fps at all max settings.
LS should help with this.

And you maybe know what every fps what you can see like a counter higher than 60 on 60 hz monitor is useless.

Exactly. I have my FPS locked to 60 in NVIDIA Control Panel because there is no point in running my card harder than necessary when I can't see the frames anyway.

I am going to go ahead and move forward with LS. Any other programs recommended to go with it or any other basic tips before I get started?

DXGI often is good choose, some older games require another options.
LS 1 upscale is most efficient and eye-pleasant for making window mode look like fullscreen.
Try performance mode if you feel some occasional stutters.

Oh, one more question if anyone can answer. Would setting the framerate to 30 FPS through NVIDIA Control Panel work or is there another method that I have to use or would be preferrable?

Experience may vary, some people use blocking in games, some block the game through the NVIDIA panel, or block the Lossless Scaling program itself.

Thanks for all the help, everyone!
