Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Very intriguing. Some questions?
This looks very interesting. Will dive in and do some testing.

Meanwhile, curious if this tech can take games locked to 60, like metal gear revengeance, or ninja gaiden master collection, and boost them to 120.

Also curious if it can work with Wii U emulator CEMU to lock BOTW to 120z

Also curious if it might work with VR.

Good luck with the product. I will happily purchase to encourage further development/experimentation.

Yep, it will work with games locked at 60 (tested with DS1 Remastered)

Although it won't work well with some games (like Nioh 1, it does have some bad optimization)

Edit: it does work with Nioh, I accidentally turned on VRR support which made it laggy.

Yes to everyhtng except VR, I do not have one so I cannot confirm.
There are cases of badly optimized games that would experience issues like the mentioned nioh or GTA IV pc port. But in them it is mostly optimizations issue on game side rather than lossless scaling issue.

Wow. That sounds amazing. A boon to those older ports that were locked to low frame rates.

So many golden oldies.

Is it finally time to return to Jet set radio?

BOTW- Yes, it's works but you should change 144 hz to 120 hz.

He can simply cap LS to 120 fps insted of having to switch the monitor refresh rate

Wow...well. thank you)) I try this on PS2 game software too)

Wow. Gotta try this on YUZU TOTK. That game needs help. But I can get 30. If that bumps to 60, I’ll take it

Has anyone tried frame generation with PCSX2? A lot of PS2 games are 30fps only, so the frame generation could be interesting to try out.

Yes. Predator Concrete Jungles, runs better, but interpolation isn't enough, IMHO)

How did you set up the emulator, so that LS scales the screen properly? Rendering the game into a separate window seemingly isn't enough. I'm using King's Field 4 as a test.

Sharp Bilinear and scaling mode in Fullscreen in LS, maybe.I can't test right now, sorry.

Tested Metal Gear Revengeance. I can see the potential. It is playing at 120, which is amazing. However, it crashes within seconds. I will see if I can find a solution, but the promise is very compelling.

Holy crap. I just fought metal gear Rex at 120fps. I have dreaming about this day.

The crashing was not related to Lossless, rather the finicky nature of the MGR port.

Some fine tuning to do, hoping to get it to run in triple screens, but just that fight makes this the best $7 I ever spent.

You will NEVER fix stutter by adding more frames. That game has traversal stutter and shader comp stutter and when a game is stuttering it's not rendering new frames so for example say you're running a game at 120fps locked except for when it tanks due to traversal stutter. During that time the frame rate effectively drops from 120hz to 0hz for up to 1 sec then immediately returns to 120 but it's also doing this roughly every 4 seconds. If you generate frames from the time the game is stuttering you will just be generating more of the locked up frames over the same amount of time and since you essentially aren't rendering new frames it still shows as a stutter.

No fixing that with frame gen no matter what methods you may be using to do it. A broken game will always be broken. If faster hardware could fix a game like concrete jungle then I wouldn't see stutter on my 7950x3d/4090. Same stutter I saw on a 5800x/2080 and 3080ti.
