For instance, the DLSS mod that is blowing up recently, alters the game files, to make the FSR 3 frame generation work on the DLSS pipeline, so, that will most likely ban you from competitive games.
Lossless Scaling on the other hand basically gets the image you're seeing on the window mode and upscale it and use the pipeline to also create new frames, if I would have to guess, I would say 'no', Lossless Scaling cannot get you banned, BUT, even so, I would highly advertise against it, because it adds tons and tons of input latency, which can be more detrimental in a competitive envyriment than the low FPS itself.
Besides that, it's not certain that you will not get detected, games like Valorant might detect it because of the way the anti-cheat works, I cannot say about Rust or other games that you play.
You can certanly try with a spare account if you are feeling insecure about it in games that don't have machine ban, but again, I would advertise not to, but not for banning reasons
I did, and let me tell, it's awesome, even not being that much user friendly, don't get me wrong, it's a hell of a good software and I'm a preacher of it for my friends with low-end PC, even before the FG option, but even DLSS FG and FSR FG adds tons of input delay and they are driver based, it's just it takes time for the software to read and reproduce all the data and I'm aware.
When I say it's bad for competitive games, I'm talking of higher ranks and higher levels of plays, where even you mouse input delay can influence, but besides that, the software is a 9/10, I even use it sometimes to test my game dev endeavors at higher frames.
I would not use FG for multiplayer games either, but the non FG render pipeline was revoked to minimize latency. I asked maybe you tried that, pretty responsive I would say
Oooh! You right on that one!
I don't use it just because I don't need it on competitive games since they are low demanding, but the normal upscaling add very little input delay, I would not go against it to win some FPS on competitive, I'm 100% sure the benefits will far over weight the delay
thank you for pointing this out, as I was a little scared to use in any SP with MP hybrid game. I mean, I only play the singleplayer part, but you never know.
well somebody is lying
-Epic Games (or whatever company is responsible for Fortnite's anti-cheat) specifically added LS as an actionable program, or expanded the detection as to include anything that captures the screen or windows, yet nobody is getting banned for using OBS or similar programs.
OR
-The guy was banned for something unrelated. Maybe he's lying, maybe it's a false positive related to something else (I heard Desktop Mate is getting people banned in Valorant and League of Legends), but regardless LS isn't related.
In the best case, LSFG only adds 4ms input latency.
There are competitive games that are locked at 60FPS, this helps a lot if it doesn't make you feel bad. Of course you need Reflex or Anti-lag.
