Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Help! I'm trying to use LS but the result is bad
Hey guys.

[My Specs: i7-9750H, 16gb RAM, gtx 1660 ti 6gb. It is a laptop]

I heard a lot of amazing things about Lossless Scaling, and i decided to buy, seeing that my gpu does not acept DLSS.

I'm trying to make Lossless Scaling run in my computer, but so far I got just a bad results.

My native res is 1920x 1080 and I put games in 1280x720.

In LS, I move the "scale factor" to 1,5 and "sharpness" in 2 (i did not see any difference in 1,2 or 10). The scaling type is AMD FSR.

I tested 3 games: Elden Ring, Spider Man and Witcher 3. In all situations I had a terrible perfomance (i hadnt perfomance gain, on the contrary, I have lost fps), the graphics went little dark and had no sharpness - it was hard to read some words/texts, for example.

I read all tutoriais in guide section and i have tried a lot of measures (e.g. disable steam overlay, updated my Windows 11, changed AMD FSR to NIS), and I could not see any change.

Am I doing anything wrong? What Can I try to improve my experience with LS?

I was hoping to run Dead Space Remake with LS help, but I'm afraid of not making it, LOL

Thank you in advance

Thank you for your answer/question.
Yes, in all mentioned situation, I played the games in windowed mode - I got this tip in one of those guides in steam guide section.
Oh, of course, my friend. If you need more information about my specs, OS or other kind of info (é.g. screenshots), just ask to me.

Thank you again

Okay, show your screenshots before/after scaling first.

Also try scaling type LS1 and turn on the performance switch, so far I think it's far better than NIS or FSR, and even cost lower GPU percent.

I had the same issue. I tried to disable IGPU in the BIOS, and I got higher FPS. but not all laptops have this option. What Laptop do you have?

On the laptops you don't need to switch off the iGPU, you can just enable the "High-Performance Energy Plan" which allows for a full boost of the CPU and RAM, as well as making the dGPU perma-active (while in this mode only), even when using windows and applications (I mean non-gaming stuff like excel and stuff). Due to that option, most vendors removed it from the BIOS settings, it is a useless option there now.

I'll try this method too. After testing, I'll come back here to show my results.
Thank you for your advice and your time. Best regards!

My laptop is a Dell 15 5590.
I'll try to find out if this could fix my problem. Kind regards.

Hmmm, understand..
I always play in high perfomance energy plan and I have put in "Nvidia Painel Control" a high perfomance plan in all of those options.
As you said, disable iGPU or not, does not make any difference in my case, right?
Thank you!

No, it was an answer to the other person, explaining why the option was removed from the bios and how he can do that in more easily and less nerve racking manner. in your case just make the lossless scalling profile to be max performance as well in the nvidia panel.

Oh, yes. And, yes, I did this change in Nvidia Painel. Tks!

In case you haven't yet, try LS1 scaling mode and turn the Performance slider on, in the Lossless Scaling app. Also try the fullscreen option to see if that helps.

LS1 has better image quality than FSR so it's no compromise!
