Lossless Scaling clone? Is this legal?
Someone told me about a program that looks just like Loss Scaling and it is on github. I don't know if it has any correlation with this program.

Are you serious?
A media player exist, so any other players are illegal?

If you don't have enough knowledge to judge the code, how can u think it's illegal? Just because the familiar function?
hooke007 1 AGO 2021 a las 8:37 p. m.
Anoter program which has the similar function

Reverse engineer and create exact replicas of already existent proprietary software to capitalize on is a violation of intelectual property. The reason I ask is so I can know if the developer of LS has anything to do with this.
hooke007 1 AGO 2021 a las 8:46 p. m.
So tell me, how to "create exact replicas of already existent proprietary software"?
LS is not opensource.
hooke007 1 AGO 2021 a las 8:48 p. m.
And follow your words, If LS "is a violation of" integer-scaler?

On GH, the same function usually have different implementations. Are they all illegal?

Whoever made "Magpie" is using opensource shader algorithms and converted them from GLSL to HLSL.

Magpie is superior in every single way because it actually makes image not just enlarged but more detailed.

Tell me if it is. I just asked out of curiosity. No need to be a idiot about it.

Only limitation is that it doesn't let select a screen. Whatever is upscale it always gets enlarged on the main monitor and everything on the second monitor gets frozen. But it is superior in some ways except for not detecting the second monitor.

Lossless Scaling does nothing unique or proprietary for that matter, and magpie is opensource code and is clearly mutation of other similar projects.
as a side note you can compile magpie and sell on Steam for profit.

Thank you! That's all I needed to know. The GUI threw me off on that because it looks way too similar to LS.

its not at all its just an opensource alternative, its like saying Krita/GIMP/Paint.net is illegal cause its like photoshop or other adobe products in the area of art. I'd honestly take that program up cause its opensource!. if it was in English which honestly if you know how to compile code and some coding know how you could just make a fork on github

I've tried both and from what I understand the main difference here is that Magpie uses neural networks to upscale the window while lossless scaling relies primarily on Microsoft's Magnification API.

LS could really benefit a lot from that. Why it isn't using it?
