Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Option to remove black borders
I use a 21:9 display and prefer games in a 16:9 centered window. The rest of desktop space is occupied by various widgets (rainmeter, obs). But when using this program all that extra space is filled with black bars. Is it possible to remove them or make them transparent?

Have you tried to set the in-game resolution to a 16:9 resolution?

By default i think it will not work since this application makes it borderless.

But if you go to LS folder where it is installed, you'll find a "Help.html" file.

You then will find "Force Resize".

I'll change the shortcut example there to match what you want (you need to edit the shortcut path bellow to match the game executable location):

Stortcut example

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lossless Scaling\LosslessScaling.exe" -path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FTL Faster Than Light\FTLGame.exe" -forceResize false -auto true -autoType amd_fsr -fsrSharpness 0.5

Start in: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lossless Scaling"

The shortcut above is set for the window not to resize, use AMD FSR on auto with the default sharpen from LS at 0.5

PS: The bold text in the shortcut is the values needed for what i just said in phrase above.

I have the exact same issue , i just want it to be windowed without the program adding black borders around. Did you find a solution?

I think the windowed mode setting may do what you want, if you use manual scaling to make sure it fills the height of your display and manually center the window.

It seems it's legacy and does not actually work , i also tried custom scaling but it can only fit more off the screen at the given aspect ratio or again fill everything with black bars.

For example if i want to play OSRS or Warhammer 3 in a window from my original 1440P resolution down to 1080P to give less eye strain and easily do background work it just adds black bars all around and keeps the resolution focused in the middle it's insanely annoying. Same on the PS2 emulator where i just want it windowed and not fill up all the empty space surrounding my desktop with black bars.

Very unfortunate as i do not want this:
