TDU2 The Worse Car Simulator Game I Have Encountered
There are games out there that do itself justice like with the original Need For Speed series for example. Power sliding, drifiting, etc., all of the good stuff that we could do in real life in the safety and comfort of our own computers. Test Drive was decent, and now the Unlimited Series needs more than just help. It requires a major lession in physics.

Traction is important in the real world model of a car and the arcade like physics of some games I have encountered feel better than what TDU2 has to offer. Power sliding is virtually impossible in cars that would normally be possible in real world applications. Need For Speed got this down right with the latest batch of the series. I can't call the Current NFS series to be a simulator as there are quite a bit of arcade like qualities in the game, but I have to say it much more fun if not with the boring plot to drive the cars and crash into things than with TDU2. I haven't heard of the idea of crashing into a car as a mere crunch on a soda bottle while bouncing away from the object being run into. The physics modeling is utter crap full stop.

Cars don't steer like their suppose to thus rendering this game a complete waste of money. Since Atari and Eden Games don't offer any form of support, I can say that this game isn't worth my time. I bought the game for the fact that I have several friends who say it is good and we can race each other. So if they are listening and reading this post (doubt it), Thanks for Nothing. NFS has a better grasp at physics modeling where when one pulls the handbrake while in a turn, expect to either be whipped around or upsidedown.

Steering is utter crap, the races are decent but when you can steer at speed with or without a good gaming controller, it still renders the game "Crap". (I will not use any profanity - the game isn't worth the swear words).

Aside from the slew of cars though, the game is worse than crap.

Oh Well, I think it is time to dust off some of the games I have in storage that play better than TDU2. I still have a copy of NFS-Porsche Unleashed. Even that game has better physics modeling than with TDU2. What does that say about the Test Drive Unlimited Series. Not much I am afraid.

For those who end up reading this would say that I am biased. Well forgive me if I am talking down about this game. I have purchased a considerable amount of racing and vehicle simulator games so I have some knowledge of what the physics are in a typical difference between virtual and real world. For starters, I have done some real world racing thus I understand what is over/under steer. Almost every car in TDU2 under steers to rather extreme degrees. Usually a tap/pull on the hand brake should aid in the steering (with the Hardcore Setting), but TDU2 for some reason behaves like the car has the traction control set to full when in a typical game setting like the old TDK World Racing, the car would either steer in the direction you are heading with or without the hand brake, or the driver would accidentally be put in a 180-degree reversal.

Mind everyone here in NFS-Most Wanted 2012 version, the steering is quite slow which can be frustrating to many, but all one has to do is either tap on the brake lightly or pull the hand brake to get the car to turn in the direction desired. I have played almost every NFS game launched so I have witness the improvements in the physics modeling. TDU2 has the worst physics configuration I have ever experience.

You REALLY need a controller or better a steering wheel to play this game. I wish the game would recognize my steering wheel. EVERY OTHER GAME recognized the wheel but TDU2 won't.
So I really regret buying this game. NEVER had so much problems with a new game. Not even GTA IV!
I'm really disappointed.

Well i cant say i have had this problem, tdu2 has never crashed and works with my steering wheel and pedals perfectly, also with an xbox 360 contoller. might be your pc or wheel.

damage and...crap? Tdu2 graphysics are state of the art 2011. Tdu2 launched with huge success and to top of charts all platforms, pushing titles like Cod to the back. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/123451/Ataris_Test_Drive_Unlimited_2_Leads_UK_Sales.php -- Tdu2 best bits is the persistent MOOR in sessions of 8 on 3,000 miles of roads with great graphic scenery free roam. its multi its social its fun, Tdu2 unique and iconic, no other race game has come close. in 4 years they still own it.

And Yet TDU2's gaming community is shrinking. Enough with the biased comments. I have had better race and driving games and since when does a Lancia push aside with ease a Mercedes ML. The Physics could be better. I am no longer complaining as clearly everyone here believes in the game. I have seen and experienced better.

You guys are still at it? Good grief. TDU2 is a lot of things, but mostly it seems to me like a SIMS game with a lot of driving, some racing, some socializing, buying clothes, houses, cars and a helluva big yacht, throw in some plastic surgery and haircuts with a big bag of gambling and you've got TDU2. I fail to understand why anyone would call it a racing sim, because it ain't. I don't recall Atari calling it a racing sim. It is deeply arcade, and unless your expectations are wildly otherwise it's fun for awhile. I've completed the career game three times but can only play offline about 90% of the time mostly because of my very slow and unstable connection. I still play the game sporadically, but it's never been my go to arcade game. That would be GRID. I gave up on EA/NFS a couple of years ago. Driving the 2,800 miles across the U.S. in 90 minutes? Give me a break. I much prefer full scale terrain driven over in real time, as in the TDU games.

Want a racing sim? Wait until November. Want a racing sim whose settings can be tuned down for a racing arcade game? Wait until November. pCARS will blow your doors off in both worlds, and will have a decent career game. In the meantime I'll be perfectly happy playing GRID with a little TDU2 thrown in for variety with maybe even some NFS ProStreet, or even NFS Undercover just for giggles. All of which are arcade games. And I'll be checking out GRID Autosport when I can get my new PC up and running.

TDU2 a racing sim? Jeez. But so what? I've only read this page and the top page, but that's enough. I'll leave you guys to it.

Sounds like you bought the game, couldn't immediately slide cars around, and decided it sucked. Maybe if you practice a little more, you will master it in this game, as well. I encourage you to meet some of the more skilled players online and see if you can keep up.

I admit: a child on a keyboard can beat the single player races. However, the game is not about the single player experience at all.

This.

Also it's an arcade racer. Don't expect realism in every game you play.
Except its not. TDU was supposed to be a free roaming simulator. TDU was a great game with big issues and i am still hopping they are smaller in TDU2.

ELLIE- what want you say with : "they are trolls" ?

In fact this game was the biggest deal ever made from me in the last 20 years and i bought a lot of games -even very expensive ones.

Bought this one for € 2,99 and with some little cheats you can drive over 100 different cars-
and have much joy in multiplayer races, freestyle and even club vs. club events (ok, today you
need some time to get the right clubs). Have played this for hundreds of hours. I am (and i guess a lot of other gamers) not interesting in a game a car drive like in real life-it make fun and good.

I think, you only should spent a little time to LEARN DRIVING. Than you would say: THIS IS A GREAT GAME!

And NFS: I gamed this and wonder about you: It is sooooo easy to drive there -and soooo boring!

Excuse me for my bad english -school was 20 years ago.

I can't really comment on the physics, it's a while ago, but I wasn't impressed to say the least (seemed to react very slow from controller input too).

But the single most amazing thing that struck me about this game? They removed TrackIR support! How could they possibly do that? (Yeah there is a mod to fix TrackIR somewhat, but I found it a bit cumbersome, but it did work. Rest of the game didn't really justify fiddling more with it though).

I enjoy TDU from 2006 much more. That one HAVE TrackIR support, go figure! Oh, and snappy menues! Click-click-click- GO!

(I don't remember how the GUI menues and such is in TDU2, but some games just are a real bore to wait for unskippable blah blah intros and such for a scatterbrain that soon decides to do something else instead).

WHERE CAN I FIND THE MOD TO FIX TRACKIR? I REALLY MISS IT

My old links didn't work (tocaedit seems to have lost it for one). But there seems to be one here: http://forum.turboduck.net/threads/24122-Racer_S-TrackIR-and-Camera-Hack-v13

Now... this[lmgtfy.com] is something I never really do. Well almost never now. And you're welcome :P

Well Wklee so that's your opinion on that game called TDU. Feel free to feel what ever you feel about reality in driving. I've never driven a Porch or a Ferrari, but with an over an 45 years of driving in snow or rain , sunshine or dry road I find these driving elements to be pretty close to the realily . So from my point of view I give TDU 1 or 2 top nots or raitings

Talking about an old bump...
Yeah... 4 years... that's more than a little excessive.
Yeah I don't like the driving this game. I gave it a shot at launch, uninstalled. Now 2021 I've been playing it for the last 3 days non-stop 16h a day, and it annoyed me way more than I had fun with it. I made it through all the driving school crap which is there only to annoy someone (give you the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ car of a class for those late-challenge with a timer that tolerates no more than 2 sec mistakes with those driving physics). Made it to A1 cup and I decided I'm not gonna put up with this game and its ♥♥♥♥ any longer. It does some things very right but not the driving only in comparison to what it could have been.
Yes some people like it, but the thing is the devs decision makers have 2 hands. On the left they have what TDU2 is and on the right they could have done something more better and more fun as an experience - with the same amount of effort. Problem is they could have done something great (not just decent or ok or good) but chose not to, probably due to being out of touch in many areas.
This topic has been multi year necrod twice now. Impressive
Yeah so after my last post some 12 hours ago I decided to reinstall TDU 1 and compare. There is no comparison. TDU 1's handling is way, way better than TDU 2 and is therefore more fun. Didn't find myself complaining or annoyed because of the driving even once. Not once. When my car span, it felt very fair. I'm no fanboy and I'm not biased. Already did the Tour Of The Island 120 Km race, zero problems. I won't be playing TDU 2 ever again as per my personal preferences. Too bad the devs f-ed it up, had they done it like their first game nobody would be complaining.
Oh man you're never going to play this EXTREMELY dead game ever again?
