no, yklee a bit of a wannabe.
lol i have NEVER praised nfs. Only game I like from that area is Shift 1 n 2.
I have tried nfs, they all have consolitis, i got nfs the run and could not get it to 'Run' on any controller, not wheel not x360, I therefore will especially avoid their latest nfs-rivals.
It is not, however, a simulator. Also, yklee118, that's great about your driving experience but if you want people to take you seriously you don't need to boast about having dual country driver licenses and working on tracks. That alone makes me think you're full of cheese and I don't know you at all.
Anyway, TDU1 was a lot better in my opinion than TDU2. Either way, the game takes a lot of getting used but once you figure it out and have some friends to play with it's a lot of fun. But you can't honestly compare to NFS. That's like comparing Flight Simulator X to Pilot Wings 64.
Yklee118 simply voiced his criticism (however absured some of the things may be) and if you can't respond without getting your panties in a bunch then you might need to take a break from the computer and go outside.
I've read every single word of each post here and it was a good reading, thanks for info.
I get impression that its nice scenery driving game with social aspect, with arcade-y feel/physics and controls, but its manageable to get used to, like in any other game. I prefer myself games which lean towards more realistic feel, though I had a blast with arcades like Burnout Paradise. What puts me off TDU2's purchase is actually a parasite which has no place in gaming industry on brink of 2014, called Securom.
From NFS games that were mentioned, only decent I remember were Porsche and Underground (especially the 2nd one). After those, I only try demos of newer NFS titles, its dissapointment each time. GT Legends is my favourite one from the more realistic spectrum, despite it starts to show its age and there are its rightful successors already on the market.
EDIT: Apparently my question about TDU1 got answered already while I was writing it and drinking tea :) Thanks!
I played tdu1 last week in fact, singleplayer of course; I love the greater variety of cars, I like the way race challenges are placed, but you can't walk in dealers, can't walk in house, or indeed anywhere. tdu1 was great of its time, i played it 100 times, fav race, Lucky Day. but I prefer tdu2 do solarcrown, and schools, find wrecks, get haircut, all that stuff.. thats just me? y, i think many more hate solarcrown and schools.
Second, I'm not trolling. I'm expressing my honest opinion, which is my fundamental right. Ever heard about freedom of speech? I'm entitled to have negative opinions about a product and, I know this will come as a shock to you, but I have a right to say that. This doesn't make me troll.
Third, why shouldn't I write to the forums of a game I don't like? This board is not the liberated zone of fanboys. It's for people to exchange their opinions and since the game is on sale right now, many people are asking about it. If you can't stand people who don't like the game, that's your problem.
Aaaaand there we go again. "U don like ma game cuz u suck @ it." Thanks for confirming my previous post.
That said, for me it isn't game-breaking. The steering I don't find too bad after playing around with my wheel settings. Admittedly it's not very realistic - like you i've played a fairly wide variety of games from simulation to pure arcade as well as having driven a range of real-world cars - but it's not much worse than some of the NFS games imho. As a barrier to enjoying the game i've not found it insurmountable.
I can see where you are coming from though, and i in no way dispute your right to be dis-satisfied with the game, everyone's expectations and perceptions are different - but i wanted to offer an alternative view because for me the game has been worth the (sale) price.
I'd agree with Spectrum's impressions of the game as that is how I've found it to be, more or less - but it is truly a shame it has taken some steps backwards since it *could* have been a great game :(
"Flawed but can be fun" sums it up for me. Depends on your expectations, but i picked this up on sale for £5 and have sunk about 40hrs into it.
Positives - decent graphics, (arcade) driving mechanics not too bad with G25 after fiddling with settings and does support H-shifter, large-ish map to cruise around. Some nice cars. Quirky social aspect with avatars and garages / clubs - haven't really explored this much. Quite a lot of mileage in single player challenges, getting licenses, collecting cars etc etc.
Negatives - physics no-where near realistic but it's no Big-Rig Racing :P Initial trouble creating account and updating the game meant i couldn't get into multiplayer. This was fixed with some patience and deleting/re-downloading the bad update after google came to the rescue. Multiplayer challenges / time-trials spoiled by cheating/hacking - much of it documented on youtube. Lack of future updates / support due to studio closure blah blah.
Summary - Worth buying only (imho) if you can pick it up cheap... especially if you've already got the likes of NFS games, DiRT, RBR, Gran Tourismo / Forza, Race07, iRacing / rFactor / RRE etc (delete as appropriate) for the racing. Free-roaming / cruising / messing around is the main box this ticks for me that those above don't, and if you can get some friends on there then all the better. So while waiting for The Crew (and pCars) it's not a bad option to have for less than the price of a gallon of non-pixelated fuel :P
Rating - a surprisingly fun 4/10.
This is just my two cents.
I don't think you can get the first one... unless you mean the first TDU...
What's the problem? Are you saying iRacing is too difficult?
