so it's basicaly a converted steam version. it will no longer use the installment in steam library, and now should be treated as a separate game.
you can still run your original steam installment, but it will result in overwriting the save files because of the cars you cannot possibly have in this version. and this only in case you bought those newly added cars, they turn into pink mustangs as if they are DLC cars bought during server DLC system malfunction.
is this true and are there any other notable differences between standart steam and unpacked patched versions (besides fixes and new cars)?
Anyway, the full changelist can be fseen in original post as I have updated it.
so the original packed version is not even needed anymore if you play the unpacked version.
it's also a bit awkward to have both installed at the same time, and i think keeping the original is somewhat better, just in case, as a backup...
i learned there is a patch for the original packed (retail) version, but it doesn't have all the content. it has some new cars and fixes though. was there a more detailed answer given to why they couldn't bring all of it to retail version patch? (because judging from patch notes adding new cars doesnt seem to be the problem, as fixing rewards and price values, as fixing car setups...)
You can even get terrain mods like snow or change environmental things like buildings or have more realistic traffic cars.
There is even a graphical mod that you can use that is a mixture of ENBSeries mixed with SweetFX that makes the game look very good and adds things like HBAO.

I think those screenshots speak for themselves.
