Can't launch TestDrive2.exe
So just got Test Drive 2 as a gift, installed and updated (went smooth) hit Play button and TestDrive2.exe crashes I've tried the following...

* Uninstalled, Redownloaded, Reinstalled
* Updated video drivers
* Deleted UpLauncher.localdb
* Given full perms for my user to everything in the folder

I'm out of ideas on this I'm getting ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION when trying to execute TestDrive2.exe and can't seem to diagnose why, any suggestions?

u dont launch testdriv2.exe, u launch uplauncher.exe by going to your steam library, click on its icon there, if u no success, try, rightclick its icon, choose properties local verify cache.
if no success ask me for more ideas,

I realize that, uplauncher just checks for updates and server status and launches the game (testdrive2.exe). Problem is when it launches testdrive2.exe (or if I launch it manually) it crashes with INVALID_INSTRUCTION.

Just to add on my list of tried..things I've used DependencyWalker to find any and all missing DLLs all seem to check out but I'm still having no luck. I've used OLLYDBG/Win32dbg to try and diagnose but to no avail both seemingly crash in seemingly random locations (call to ACLayers, cmp between eax and ebx, sometimes in random libs kernel32.dll or ntdll.dll) This could be due to packing but it certainly doesn't help my situation :/

I submitted a ticket to atari not expecting anything but surprisingly got a response

Greetings!

Go to the location where your TDU2 folder is located. Go to the Security tab in properties, then "Advanced". You will then go to the "Owner" tab. Now you have a choice, you can set your user name as the owner and do this again when you reinstall windows. Or use "Everyone" as the owner. Before clicking OK, make sure "Replace owner on sub containers and objects" is checked.

From there, go to the "Permissions" tab and add the entries you require but make sure "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" is checked. Also if you are using Steam please make sure it is under administrator rights.

Sincerely,

This didn't work for me and I've let them know but for anyone else with this issue give this a try and do reply with the outcome if it works!

It happened to me also, but I push the play button, and it dissapears. Nothing else happens after this, not even for 6 straight hours.

Not to mention that the installation was a clean one 2 months ago

--- #5,"nothing else happens.." what, not even a black screen, or rotating busy icon?
Clean your registry of tdu2 items from previous install, then re-install. or Try it on a different pc.
--- #4, yes zero thats a very old stock response, not known to work afaik.
--- #3, u realize that but still u think u can launch testdrive2.exe manually, omg.
