The first REAL fix for the RTX Map Crash issues!
Finally, we can say goodbye to the dreaded RTX Map Crash issue that has been plaguing this game for ages!

TDUniverse has released a launcher update today that introduces a settings panel with a couple of plugins, including an official RTX Fix that actually fixes the shader that causes the issue.

No longer do we need to add DLL files to our game, or use DXvoodoo as a flawed 'workaround'.

The launcher can be downloaded on the TDUniverse website: https://tduniverse.org/

That's interesting! Shame I can't test it right now.

The launcher doesn't launch the game. On the first launch attempt an error popped up, something about exception and "mods.json", I restarted the launcher with admin rights, but it didn't launch the game: the screen turns black for a moments and that's it. Tried both Andraste mode and legacy mode, both behave the same.

The game is full vanilla, no mods, and works fine on its own (not an RTX card).

How do I fix it?

Hmm that's interesting! We haven't heard that before. I'll ask and come back to you

Hey Maskerader, can you try opening the launcher as Admin, then opening the Settings menu and save it. Then try launching the game by Shift-clicking the Play button. This will launch the game in offline-mode. Let's see if that fixes the black screen.

Unfortunately, it's the same, the screen turns black for a moment and after that, nothing. Tried both legacy and Andraste modes.

I'll try joining your Discord, maybe that'll be more convenient to discuss this issue.

To be sure, I'll play for a few hours today and let you know. If it's ok, I'll describe all the manipulations I did.

That's the first time I hear of this issue. It's very unlikely that this is caused by the RTX Fix, since that just fixes the shader that is used in the map. It does not touch any other parts of the game.

Try turning on Vsync, it could be that the game starts to behave weird at very high framerates. I have never encountered issues myself though at 144 Hz.

Small crashes with the two launchers (map with Steam and an apartment video with Universe) but nothing too bad, the game remains really playable (2560 x 1400 at 165 Hz and Vsync). I haven't found any holes where I pass under the map while driving like yesterday.

I still applied the version of the TDUniverse patch (7 GB compressed: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UDE4bGK1XyCNNSuYeJFG-KayaJXcD9YG/view) instead of the official one (523 MB).
