There are multiple issues with the game and its original launcher, though, but they aren't related to servers being down, they've been there all the time.
The only thing that is related to servers is you have to wait for 2 minutes when you first start your game and you don't have any offline profiles. Only after that you get an error message and a menu pops up, where you can create a new (offline) profile.
The most common issue is the game fails to start when you press "Play" button in launcher. You can try:
- close all applications that might use your sound system;
- check out recent threads for other tips or google "tdu2 doesn't start";
- use the alternative launcher, but Steam achievement won't work: https://tdu2.knyazev-tools.ru/universal-launcher/
Oh also I'm on Windows 10. Any known issues with that? Actually, here are my system specs, think I'll run into any known configuration problems?
i5-8600K on a Z370 motherboard
16GB DDR4
GTX 1060 6GB w/ a 1080p 60Hz monitor
Of course all drivers are the latest and Windows is fully up-to-date.
Somewhere around the first months of 2018 the game was removed from Steam store and we don't know the reasons, even whos decision it was, the publisher's (Atari) or Steam's. Too many refunds, maybe? I wouldn't be surprised.
In November 2018, Atari annouced they are closing TDU2 support forever, the game servers won't be back, and the site apparently went down too.
Eden Games are now independent (http://www.edengames.com) (https for some reason gets blocked) and are working on "gear.club" a mobile game.
Still have yet to download and install it to give a shot yet, but your post gives me little faith lol. I'm going to give it a go today. I'll post again to give my results.
Okay good to know, that's a little more reassuring.
In game I changed my video settings to 1920x1080 at 60Hz, Vsync off, AA at 8x, and all other options at max. Had to manually switch the game to full screen mode with Alt-Enter. The game by default was in window mode at 1280x720. Using GeForce Experince's FPS counter, I'm getting a solid 110-120 FPS at all times. Played for several hours and didn't see it drop below 110 once.
I set up my Xbox 360 controller and changed all binds to my liking and all is well there.
Afterr several hours of game-play I didn't run into a single issue, no crashes, no stutters, no problems whatsoever. Also what's nice is all DLC installed just fine and all are active.
Couldn't be happier with how it turned out, and so glad I'm able to play this classic, without issue, once again.
Wow, that's a badass setup :D
👍 Thx 🙂
Check out if you have browser, Skype, Discord, etc. running, close everything that can use your sound system. If that won't work, ask google "tdu2 doesn't start", there are many possible reasons why it stopped launching your game and what you can do.
Or use the alternative launcher (no Steam achievements though): https://tdu2.knyazev-tools.ru/universal-launcher/
