Does tuning your car give an advantage in championships?

Does tuning your car grant you a relative advantage over your AI opponents? Or do they also apply the same level of tuning, as I remember being the case in NFS Underground where it was often easier to win through removing upgrades?

It should, since each championship "boss" (Stuart Wintory, Wilder brothers, etc...) has their car tuned

However, the AI is braindead. Unless you can't drive at all you shouldn't need to tune your cars at all.

Yes, it gives you an advantage. The game doesn't seem to have a catch-up/rubberbanding implemented. Or, even if it has one, it does not make using faster cars irrelevant.

I don't feel that way. Guess you're a better driver than me (both in the game and IRL, and my car is manual, for what it's worth).

There's a catch, though. Some cars barely change with tuning (in terms of actual racing performance rather that pure stats), and tuning to lvl 4 can be quite expensive, so it may be easier just to buy a faster car. Another catch is many cars have wrong acceleration and top speed stats (and there are no stats for grip to evaluate the car's perfomance in corners), so it's not easy to guess which car is faster or slower.

Do you have an issue with any particular category or car? Maybe I can advise something.

Good point about updating the cars it can be very costly and sometimes only 20 or 30 kph improvement in top speed , out drivingthe other person sometimes is better. With 4x4 cars cutinng corners and short cuts across field have worked used wrx to beat bugatti before by using good short cuts .
