Map opens zoomed in and freezes
Hi,
I bought TDU2 yesterday and I have a problem with the map. When I clicked on M to open the map, it opens zoomed in and freezes instantely. I went to a competition and the map opens zoomed out and it works BUT if I zoom in, specially on me it freezes.

Please help me, I didn't find any fix on internet and I would like to add that sometimes I had to restart my laptop because the game went all black...

I have a recent gaming laptop with a 2080 max-q and an i7-8750H.

sounds like your laptop is maxed hot, try again with minimal, i.e. stop all unnecessary apps etc, look at Everything to stop, you can restart them again after playing. gl.

Assuming you have an RTX video card, that is a known issue. See thread https://steamcommunity.com/app/9930/discussions/0/1735465524721386003/

Yes it's a RTX issue, I contacted NVIDIA and you know what they said?
"it's a windows 10 issue", I said them that it's the RTX and they have to fix their sh*t and they responded to me that it's at the dev to optimize the games...
Poor nvidia and very bad SAV!

Hi All. I know this port is almost a year old, but since I never saw a resolution to this issue here, I wanted to post the solution to this problem.

I was getting the infamous RTX freeze when opening the map, rendering the game unplayable.
All you have to do to fix it is this:

1. Download a file called DXVK Wrapper.
You can find it here:
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/tag/v1.5.3

2. Open the compressed file and copy the file D3D9.dll from the x32 \ folder into to the game folder.

3. Run the game and enjoy! That's it.

It works perfect after this simple fix. No more crashed or Map Freezes.

Enjoy this great game!

Hello friend, I follow your instructions, but I'm still having problems with the map freezing, could you help me?

DXVK Wrapper version 1.5.3 doesn't work for me.
But version 1.7.1 - does!

Wow, this works perfectly!
Thanks! :D

Nice!
But I updated Windows 10 to 2010 and it doesn't work for me anymore.
So I would say it also depends on videodriver version and (strangely) on Windows version.
DO NOT update anything until you finish the game! :-)

There is another problem. Let's start with that, I have Windows 10 20H2, 461.72 version of NVIDIA driver. When I've launched the game with the x32 d3d9.dll file inside the game folder, I ran the game, and map was working perfectly fine, but I couldn't change resolution and refresh rate, because it was set at 1280x720 and 50Hz, and when I change it to my native res or other than 1280x720/50 it crashes. I will try older version of DXVK (I tried 1.8.0), but if you have any ideas for what to do, You can write them down. I'll subscribe to this discussion.

UPDATE: on the 1.7.1 version x32 changing resolution works, but I feel like some of the textures render in 144p, and sometimes the game stutters but very rarely.

Well it's all a guesswork without someone who could debug what's going on with the game. And those people would be:
* Developers of this game
* Developers of the DXVK
* Developers of Reshade or ENB
* Any developer that could work with DirectX 9.0c
But I am just a humble co-developer of DoW Mod Manager :-)

It's not an RTX issue. I got a GTX 1650 and still got this issue

Let's say, it's an issue with cards of 20-gen or newer. It didn't happen to 10-gen or older cards, as far as I know.
MrKanister May 10, 2021 @ 4:12am
1650 and 1660 are 16 gen and are built on turing
Maskerader May 10, 2021 @ 7:08am
Yet there's something in them (or in the drivers?) that make them behave like 20-gen cards in TDU2. Also they came out after 20-gen, that's why I called them "20-gen or newer".
