So is the map freeze/crash issue ever going to be fixed?

It sure would be nice for this problem to be fixed at some stage. After many years I decided to give this game a go as I now have better hardware but as soon as I open the map, the whole system sort of freezes. Sometimes its a freeze where I can get out of it by spamming B on the controller but most of the time is a blank screen and I have to hard restart the whole system.

Apart from that issue, the game plays fine and I am willing to put with any other bugs. Is there anyone I should contact to get to the bottom of this? I have tried everything from Windows 7 Compatibility mode but the problem persists. I have a I9 9900K, 2080Ti system so its more than capable.

Hi, I have an RTX too and I also have this problem. I think it's due to the new RTX architecture and the game doesn't support it. So I don't think there's ever gonna be a fix for that. I've done everything: from instaling unofficial patch and universal launcher, to reseating the GPU in its slot. Nothing helped. BUT sometimes it doesn't freeze. Like yesterday, I won the C4 low and the C4 high championship and it didn't freeze at all. I don't exactly know the cause to this but as i said earlier, i think its due to this new RTX architecture. I am sad, because i wanted to play this game again and it freezes/crashes. But from the other side, the game is 8 years old, duh.

I confirm the same problem here.
New hardware, i7 9th, DDR 4, RTX 2080ti, SSD. Everything works smooth if I dont' press map button, then no way out except reboot the system.

Tested with an older pc, having GTX 1070 and it works fine.

Can't believe that the map has ruined the experience of playing this beautiful game on 32:9 monitor. At the first moment I thought it was a problem with the resolution of the map and the 32:9 format. But as I can read in community forums it is a deeper issue.

Old game with no support and problems with new hardware? Bad future...

Thank you for the replies. I am glad that I am not alone in this. I feel its pretty sad considering that I am enjoying it. I am trying to play it without entering the map through the game. Might even give the game a new dynamic lol

If you have an older Nvidia card try swapping out when playing. Put spare card in an unused pci-e slot and swap monitor cable to old card when playing tdu2.

Try to contact NVIDIA and speak about this issue from RTX.
I contacted them and they said to me I'm the only one who has reported this problem...
Pls try this, it's at NVIDIA to correct the issue, the problem is RTX and not TDU2!

1. Download a file called DXVK Wrapper.
You can find it here:
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/tag/v1.5.3

2. Open the compressed file and copy the file D3D9.dll from the x32 \ folder into to the game folder.

3. Run the game and enjoy! That's it.

It works perfect after this simple fix. (I do however suggest limiting your FPS to refresh rate).
It won't crash on the map anymore after i did this (even with the unofficial patch and using the launcher)
I found the game still sometimes crashes in cut scenes..but i think that's a separate issue!
But at least the map works!!

I never found it, but I did some digging and found this video, follow everything this guy does and it works perfectly with the added bonus of unlocking all the dlc as well as adding a handful of modded cars
