Any Windows 10 SecuROM fix yet?
Greetings,

Its been a while since I last played this game, my old PC ran Windows Vista and later on Windows 7 and I never had issues playing the game.
But since upgrading to Windows 10 and later on getting a new PC with Windows 10 pre-installed I've been having issues playing the game.

The installation goes fine and the game boots through the UpLauncher like normal, until suddenly the dreaded "A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed." message pops up.

Through searching many websites and the discussions here I've been able to understand that the issue persists because of the removal of SecuROM from Windows 10.

However I see messages that this only counts for people who got the Disc based game, not my Digital download.
I've also seen messages of people enjoying the game fine on Windows 10 (Both upgraded through Windows 7/8 or normal Windows 10 installations)

So if anyone has any idea of how to get the game to work on Windows 10 then please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply.
I have seen this mentioned before, but unfortunatly looking in Services there is no option for SecuROM to turn on.

others have done it ok. Ask around, you also need Directx 9.0c, got that?

I do not see or have the option to activate SecuROM, if you could share a screenshot with how it looks or where it is.
As for Directx, yeah I got the newer version.

lol, you need the older version directx 9.0c, google it, only get that from Microsoft, not 3rd parties.
btw I'm Win-7 and I also need a walkthrough how to do all this with 10.

Thanks in advance.

I use a different launcher. It seems to not need the SecuROM service to launch the game. Heres a link to it:

https://i-knyazev.ru/tools/tdu2-universal-launcher/ (Will need translating as the guy who made it is russian, the actual program is in english though.)

You just put all the files into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Test Drive Unlimited 2, run the .exe file and click on tools then settings and set up everything in that window. Sorry if this is a little complicated. This is the only way I know of bypassing SecuROM.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply, unfortunatly this has not worked for me.
Are you on a windows other then 10, or a windows 10 that was upgraded from 7 or 8?

Worked for me no problem on a clean install of Windows 10. I installed from disc though but activating SecuROM wasn't a problem when choosing to activate online.
