It is rather challenging;) There is no health regen during gameplay, but it regenerates between loading screens/stages. The player also has multiple perks: taking pills for slomo and superkick (one hit kill kick), building adrenaline and using it either for rage, or adrenaline slide/jump (extended slide/jump with slomo) and a few others. The levels/stages are more like setpieces with short intense encounters that take strategy intro account. So you could say the combat plays out in a tactical-puzzle kind of way: rather different from classic boomer shooters.
The free demo here on Steam should provide a good preview for that. The initial stages are much shorter, smaller and easier than those later in the game. So you can see there if the combat is up your alley.
THE only thing I find not amazing, would be the way the enemies seem to all come towards the player. it's not waves, but when there are 20 melee enemies all running towards you at the same time, it kinda feels that way and in fact, takes away from the strategy. my best strategy so far is backing up, finding a corner and popping the enemies one by one as they run toward me.
Yeah, it starts out somewhat easy, then within a couple of ingame days it gets to the point where I can complete most of the levels without pills, then BAM! It's like the difficulty gets ramped up to the point where it is almost impossible to make progress. Even on casual mode the difficulty ramps up very quickly at a certain point to what would be considered nightmare in a lot of other games. And I don't think I have ever made it more than halfway through the game. Also, sliding is starting to feel pointless since apparently enemies can headshot you while sliding, whether on pills or not.
I've restarted the game 6 times so far, and this feeling of being unable to progress, as well as an absurd lack of documentation about this game (I noticed elsewhere that the devs said "no handholding; figure it out yourself"), is starting to make me want to uninstall it until the devs fix this issue.
The fact that there aren't any youtube videos for the levels in question only makes me suspect even more that these levels are too difficult. If I could see someone else beat these levels, I might feel like this challenge is something that is possible to complete.
This game should have cheats so people can get past some of the more poorly designed levels. Or give the player more health in casual mode because there's nothing casual or easy about this.
It's a great game and concept, but it's not fun when you can't win. Easy/casual mode normally means in other games that the player can be a lot sloppier than in normal or harder modes, but there is almost no room for error whatsoever in this game. If I can ever figure out how to progress, I don't think I'll ever play on Normal mode because Casual is almost impossible!
edit: I'm not an early adopter. I bought the full version a couple of days ago because I thought it looked neat, but I'm starting to regret it. I don't think I've ever been this frustrated when playing a game's easy mode.
It also seems awfully deceptive that the devs intentionally made the demo much easier than the later parts in the full game, so unwitting people end up buying a game they can't beat. There aren't any serious guides of any kind for this game!
I just replied to you in another topic. But just in case pasting it here as well. Recommend the discord: you'll find lots of clips, strategies, secrets, clips and more over there. It's much more active than steam and also the best/fastest way to get in touch with us.

In casual you actually do have more health. Enemy bullets travel sginificantly slower, enemies have slower reaction time etc. Also the idea for casual was not to make the game a breeze. You still need to adapt to given situations, especially in the harder levels. Also using the right pill in the right situation will make some of the levels much easier.
Sorry you got the impression the demo is intentionally deceptive:/ That was not the intention at all. I can also guarantee that a lot of players made it to the mutliple endings on the harder/hardest difficulties. Check out the guides sections here: there is ie a guide for beating the toughest level on Nightmare. Nonetheless hope to see you on the discord and you can get a solution to make the levels a breeze or at least manageable.
Id like to play it at a little slower pace but atm the gameplay is too hectic and stressfull, too much trial and error is needed for my taste.
It's not challenging, rather than it's disgusting. Hit detection sucks enemy reacts too fast, poor hit indication, it's total mess. Glad you provide the demo so that I can avoid this ♥♥♥♥. Challenging? Ridiculous.
