Mirage Solo controller tracking with cameras for 6dof controls
This might be niche request/idea but it would be cool to have 6dof controller with mirage solo.
using camera's to track ball attached to daydream controller [hackernoon.com]

Unfortunately the GoogleVR SDK that supports Mirage camera doesn't work on production Mirage, and they won't be updating it or the Mirage, so not possible to use those cameras. It should be possible to use the Daydream controller with a LED ball as a 6DOF controller with the planned PS4 camera tracking driver for iVRy.

are you certain about it? You can enable the see through mode in beta features menu and it works.
and there is api for unity [developers.google.com] or is the issue getting raw video feed into usb/wireless ?

The issue is the (native) GoogleVR SDK that supports the camera (1.20) doesn't have a runtime available for the Mirage. I would know, I have a Mirage and am a GoogleVR developer. A Unity SDK does not help at all for the iVRy app, as it doesn't use the Unity engine (and I'm not about to attempt porting to it for a niche feature on a niche device).

Nonetheless, even if it did, the Mirage cameras are pretty useless for hand/controller tracking due to their limited field of view, and even if they weren't, it doesn't make sense to spend efforts on a solution that would be useful to 0.0001% of iVRy users. The PS4 camera tracking add-on for iVRy appeals to a much broader range of users.

Thanks for reminding me of the Daydream track ball project though, I will make sure that something like that will work with the PS4 camera tracking add-on.

3dof controller is the only flaw in this headset.
at least it only costed 130€ and at that price point its fantastic headset and ivry is fantastic software

Thanks! The app does support the experimental 6DOF Mirage controllers, but I wasn't ever able to get any to test with.

I have a copy of the 6DOF, hoping to reverse engineer it sometime in the next couple months, maybe make a custom kit people can do. Also working on the custom rom for the headset (read as: hunting for someone who knows android core. We have root if anyone wants it, but no one who knows how to recode some of the sticking points)
