iVRy Driver for SteamVR

iVRy Driver for SteamVR

Windows Mixed Reality Portal discontinued - Alternatives?
I've recently red, that Microsoft will drop its support for the mixed reality portal; removing the software entirely.

That would render my HP Reverb G2 useless.
Are they any plans to introduce a plugin for iVRy, so we can use our hardware even after it's official support? Or if not, do you know a software, that would still work as a driver?

No plans to develop WMR driver at present, as due to the headset design it would require developing an entire VR runtime. Have a look at the Monado project, AFAIK that is the only project working on compatibility with WMR headsets.

Well, I'm glad to know that, before I planned to buy my rented headset.
Its probably better to go for a different one.

I'll look into Monado anyway, just in case ^^

Yeah, it might even take hardware like the PSVR2 DP-AUX emulator we developed to even use it at all on Windows. The EDID on WMR headsets is a special MS case, that makes the display only available to undocumented MS APIs.

Monado is Linux, so it doesn't have the same limitations.

Wait... With a new headset I actually thought of PSVR2 + your software.
So you're saying, that PSVR2 will also lose its functions on Windows PC, once WMR is officially dead?
I thought it has its own VR runtime?

No. The comment that includes the word "PSVR2" state that one would probably have to use the hardware dongle that we designed for PSVR2 with WMR headsets for them to work on WIndows at all. We're discussing WMR here, not PSVR2.
