iVRy Driver for SteamVR

iVRy Driver for SteamVR

iVRy Head Tracking system for 6DOF
Hey everyone, I have bought the premium PSVR iVRy and I want to have 6 - POS tracking. How do I achieve that? Which software do I use? I have a PS-Eye camera and a TrackIR system if that helps.

Thanks !

Edit: thanks for help ! POS to DOF

You need at least 2 PS-Eye cameras to use PSMoveService. You'll also need a 3rd controller, or a table tennis ball and LED to provide a tracking point for the headset. You'd currently need to use Driver4VR to get it all working, but there is a new version of iVRy for PSVR being released this month that will talk to PSMoveService directly, so all you would need is PSMoveServiceBridge and iVRy to get controller and head tracking in SteamVR (with PSEye cameras). There's something on the horizon with regards to using the PS4 camera (with an adapter), but I'm not really at liberty to talk about that right now (it's not my software).
Thanks for the reply ! Would you recommend investing in the cameras or should I use the 3 - DOFwhile waiting for the possible PS4 camera adapter ?

Edit: POS- DOF

They're pretty cheap (around $8 new), and if anything is going to happen with PS4 camera tracking, it's likely to be in 2-3 months from now. "Worth" is subjective, and can only be answered by you.

BTW I don't know what POS stands for, but in VR, the term is 3DOF or 6DOF (degrees of freedom).
Oh yes, sorry I mean DOF. I think I will invest in this tracking method. Thank you very much !
Also, I've seen that I can use the Kinect V2, would you recommend that , as I am only looking to get head tracking for 6DOF, and play with joystick.

I've never tried it, so can't give any opinion on that. Try with 3DOF first, if you're playing seated games with a joystick, then see if you're missing anything.

Hello iVRy,
Wow !!
What a great piece of software. I was waiting for a seamless way to connect my PSVR to the PC, to be able to un DCS without having to buy a Rift or other VR headset. IF I had a perfectly workin VR headset that worked in PS4, why not using it in PC. And you tool does the trick with no fuss, no extra software, driver, etc. Super job. I only have a question. Will iVRy support in the future 6DOF with PS4 camera ? IF we can get it in PS4, surely will be a way to use it in the PC, right ? Or any Webcam, for that fact. That would do also.

Thank you so very much !!

You can use multiple PSEye (PS3) cameras with PSMoveService for 6DOF and motion controller tracking. PSVR camera tracking needs at least 2 cameras. There is work being done to get the PS4 camera (which uses 2 cameras in the same housing) working on the PC. You will either need an adapter or to modify the PS4 camera cable, as the connector is proprietary and can't be connected to a PC.

Great news iVRy,
Do you have a time frame for the software to work with the PS4 camera ?
Is there an adapter being developed ?

Thanks

There is someone selling an adapter on the PSVRHack subreddit. You could also splice a USB connector into the cable. I can't give much info on the PS4 camera tracking, as I'm not the one developing it. Some kind of solution should be in place before Half-Life:Alyx is released.

Hello iVRy, I was conducting a small research about 6DOF with PSVR and found an experimental, but functional feature in Trinus PSVR that solely uses one standard webcam to track the lights in the PSVR HMD. Would it be possible for iVRy to work in a similar way. After all, the PSVR HMD already has several positional lights.

Thanks

From what I've heard that feature is pretty much useless. It's impossible to do it properly with a single uncalibrated camera (and half good is no good), and in any case standard webcams are too low resolution/framerate to be usable for good VR tracking. I'm not at liberty to say much about the PS4 camera work in progress, but obviously it makes more sense to use that, as all PSVR owners have one, and it's a calibrated high framerate dual camera, specifically tuned to pick up PSVR and PSMove LEDs.

The Trinus 'implementation' is an uncredited (as far as I know) bundling of an alpha level open source project. I've looked at it, but didn't think it worked well enough to bother incorporating it.

Roger that. I will keep waiting and hoping for the PS4 camera, then.

by the way... Merry Christmas

Hello iVRy,
Happy new year, by the way.
Any news regarding the implementation of PS4 Camera on PC to achieve the 6DOF with iVRy and PSVR ? I have a simulation project that would largely benefited from that feature.

Happy new year and hello again too.

Always interested in possible solutions to the drift problem, any news on the ps4 camera hints earlier in this thread?

My current solution at the moment is to discontinue playing games where its a problem (strong visual anchors to the center view).
