confused about the controls
i got the iVRy app on my phone and it says it works with the cardboard. so how do i use a controller with it? is getting the NOLO controller/tracking set the only way? $200 (Amazon price) is a lot and the set up looks complicated for me to do

Which controller? Check out Driver4VR (not my software) to see if you have any of the hardware it supports. You can also use a gamepad. NoloVR setup is very simple, as iVRy contains all of the software for it, nothing else needs to be installed.

so if i do buy the NOLO products all i have to do is attach the headpiece and pair the controllers, that's it?

I believe the controllers are paired from factory.

no, i mean pair them to Steam VR so it recognizes i have controllers. or does it happen automatically? i have no knowledge about how it all works, obviously

You do not need to pair anything.

NoloVR is too expensive for what it is. If you can find one cheaper, maybe it is worthwhile. At $200 it would be a better investment to pick up a cheap Windows Mixed Reality headset.

this looks promising, not sure if buying 2 would work as each hand though

Don't waste your time with 3DOF controllers (if this is even one, it doesn't say). I very much doubt the controller you linked could be used for anything on PCVR. You can use an XBox gamepad with many VR titles. Start with that.

i appreciate the suggestion but the majority of the VR games i'm wanting to play need tracked motion controllers; examples: Job Simulator, Nature Treks VR. and the gamepad is not compatible with them

i tried using Driver4VR but my PC's graphics card doesn't meet the requirements to run it

I'm guessing you didn't install the iVRy driver and are trying to use Driver4VR's built-in monoscopic driver? Otherwise what you've written doesn't make any sense.

oh sorry, got it mixed up with something else. i now have the program running and Steam VR now accepts that i have controllers, just still trying to figure out how to get the mouse/keyboard emulation set up.

thank you so very much!! i've got it mostly figured out, now it is just a matter of (im)patiently waiting for the Gear VR version, then you've got a sale!

i couldn't wait and bought the premium version for cardboard. thanks to iVRy and Driver4VR, i can finally experience SteamVR so THANK YOU!!!
one thing though- like most apps in Cardboard, the video quality is pretty low and fuzzy. will the quality be better for the upcoming GearVR version?

Depends on app settings and network quality.
