I also had some weird issues with the cursor disappearing a lot while trying to rearrange the scraps of paper on the lockers.
The black screen appears, as to our knowledge, when the system is unable to run an MP4 video that is played right after you do that.
This is the end of Prologue with the cutscene.
You can definitely find that file in the Game -> Content -> Movies folder, to see if your system can launch that.
I would expect UE4 to be able to run that with any type of driver you install on any system.
We would start looking into rendering that scene through in-game utilities, instead of per-rendering a video file.
Would you be able to record a video of that and send it to us at hello@eggnut.net?
I tried to record the disappearing cursor behaviour, but ran into another bug while I was at it. Tabbing out of the game and back in seems to cause a crash for me (screen goes black for a few seconds, and then the game quits). Going to try recording from the outset.
Exactly.
It's our proof of concept and tech. We want to make sure that when the game is released, it's playing and running as smooth as possible.
Thank you for your support!
We are wondering whether you are running Vulkan or OpenGL?
Both Vulkan and OpenGL should be available on my system.
Used the "find the video files" approach from earlier in the thread to see the cutscene. I must admit I was a bit surprised at how big the video files were, though.
Liked the demo (aside from the flickering issues, reported separately). Would definitely be interested in the whole game if it had a bit better Linux support. Nicely done!
