Okay, And this is what is prompting my question. I have 103 keys. More, of other types. But I cannot enter. Any notion why? ( min level, need a certain pet?)
Somebody please tell me I don't have a 20 paragon tier wait ahead of me.
Uh, what tier did we need before? ( I wish we had a steam/horrified emote)
Also, the max expedition level is 120 (which affects your max amount of attribute points in expeditions, as well as a few trophies), while the enemies' max possible level is 170.
Copypasted from yours truly from Discord.
The basic reason why we locked them is because a lot of people kept asking, like somebody every couple of days or so (the same amount that's now asking "why is it locked now?"), why are they gaining the keys so slowly and whether it's 100 for a pass or for unlocking the thing
Because they get to it so early they don't realize they'll have dust to spend for keys later, and get angry and frustrated, because it looks to them as if it'll take ages. Because their first 100 keys was from bats and trials in early game, which are very slow.
Again, you won't have enough keys before starting to experiment to level trophies, and they're not useful without being Legendary. No, missing out on Splinters wasn't the reason we locked it, although it seems to be the common opinion about it. We believe it's your choice to miss on them or not, but yes, it's generally agreed upon that you want to not use keys until Splinters are unlocked.
It was my personal suggestion and decision. I see it's causing confusion, but I'm unsure on how to solve it, so it's clear to everybody, either.
I'm not really in favor of hand holding but something else that comes to mind, maybe the random 2h buff shouldn't be available until splinter experiments are available for the first time. Ditto with catalyst shards and key experiments. I think it might be best if newer users were steered away from experiments that would slow down equipment unlocking at a time when those experiments aren't that beneficial in comparison.
I agree, but I feel like it won't solve the questions ask, and might only radicalize them ("Why were key-locked expeditions removed?! We can't get trophies now?!" "What happened to expeditions, why are they gone at all?"). I would, ideally, eliminate the keys literally until you start doing experiments, but there's no realistic method to determine that point, so we went for the first sensible milestone there is. Removing the ability to gain them makes sense the same way dust/splinters is inaccessible before the mechanic is unlocked, yes.
Also agree on handholding, but in reality it seems like it's often needed, because while (vocal) minority can read stuff in the game, on wiki or ask on discord - majority of people just don't understand things unless they're obvious and usually come to the most negative conclusion they can think of. So we have to make it clear/obvious that it's better than they think (which is usually also true).
Frankly, we didn't expect people to be bothered by it so much. We'll change it up somehow.
Dang. I...guess I'll be doing expeditions again come...2027? Not sure. But not this year or next for certain.
I can't comment on what your saying> I can only say it looks like I won't be going on expeditions for a few years real time. I'm close to maxing level and no where nearing unlock the stuff I need to enter locked zones.
Maybe someday there will ten or fiftten unlocked zones we'll needt to fill the empty
If you haven't Realmed for the first time (e400+), collecting catalysts is is an important memory multiplier. FYI, don't realm at e400, that's just when the realming menu unlocks and shows you how many memories you can get from realming.
