Here's an alternative you can use: the export and import buttons. The export button will generate a bunch of text, which is your save file. You copy it, put it in a text file, then save it somewhere on your computer. This is also how you make backup save files.
To import your save file, simply open the file where you put your save file, copy all of its contents, click Import, then paste it there and click Import.
after fast trials, means trial of skill with fast challenge, or after trial of valor? looking for the cause of this issue
They were Trials of the Skill. I'm e210 and the trials were things like Hand Made Forest so took seconds to complete. It may be connection issues as Steam does lose my account credentials for achievements/profile etc. if I've been online for a long period. I've never known it interfering with a game though.
The issue itself is that clicking on the Save button does not show the "Save complete" pop-up and when it happened previously I found it loaded from several hours prior (back in the middle of a Trial of Skill that I had messed up and eventually completed.) Again, I remember I had completed some Trials of Skill extremely quickly. This occurred a couple of days ago but I put it down to something I'd done wrong. The second time was last night when I tried to Save and realised it was not responding. I also tried adding/removing all settings that I could before I Exiled and found I could save immediately after Exiling.
My style of play hasn't changed and I generally do Trials of Skill in groups of 4 or 6 before build runs to increase mysteries as an Exorcist. Only recent change is I've been upgrading items instead of creating new items. I'm Paragon 23.
So, different steps for us, but maybe it has something to do with exiling quickly (either homecoming or normal way?).
If I can also take this opportunity to suggest a qol change...can we reset attributes when completing a challenge successfully, so we don't have to re-exile? =)
You were playing nicely on Idle Wizard (on Steam), you saved, you went away.
And when you came back... WHAM. Nothing. All your progression has disappeared. You are back to the measly weakling apprentice you were at the beginning.
Tears are coming to your eyes, and you beg all the gods to give you back your save.
Alas, no god comes to your help.
No god? No. Your last hope is there for you.
"check please folder ...Steam\userdata\USER_ID\992070\remote here should be your cloud save file"
TL;DR : If your save on Steam is ever seemingly erased check that folder to get your cloud save and, hopefully, all your data back."
Once you got your cloud save file, open it with any text editor, and use search and replace to remove all spaces. Then copy-paste the string you got in import.
Sometimes, just restarting Steam/Idle Wizard can solve it too.
That is a different issue from the one most of the people in the topic have though.
