for example umbramancer would work better if you unlocked "preparation for darkness" - it increases pasive liquid shadow income
edit: actually, nevermind. I think I have an idea of what it wants me to do. i'll just set up spellhound and only LS building, or spell shard spells. let it go as high as it can for the next few hours.
Thanks, never really paid attention to achievements and forgot all about challenges ever since demonologist days.
It also holds "hints" if you want to find it yourself but the name of the achievement is not enough for you.
Still, I'd say your attributes are wrong.
There is no real point in not taking 25 int/ins (Yes, insight.). It's pretty much always your first take.
After that, dominance sucks. Its perks are bad for Umbramancer, and even its bonus per point is inferior to Spellcraft.
No reason to not go for 200 in Spellcraft (unless you need points for your gear).
Furthermore, empathy is inferior in bonus per point to Dominance (taking in account the scaling of Ebonsand Behemoth), no point in dumping into empathy, you should dump into dominance. (For the record, "dump" means "If you have less than 25 points left, you put them all here". Dominance still sucks).
Even then, there might be some optimization left to do (I'm not bored enough to calculate exactly how much each perks give), but still, it'd probably be better.
Once your attributes are perfected.. Well Umbramancer suffers from the same thing as Ironsoul and Abolisher.
These classes were created and balanced for players with "good" items. Nowadays you rise in mysteries way too fast to have enough time to have enough dust for good items (as opposed to when those classes were created), so they are underpowered for you.
I don't think you can get big profits out of Umbramancer, and if you want to rise fast in mysteries, there are other options for you.
it's working so far. as for mysteries, if I ever have trouble with that I go chronomancer and leave it on reckless autopilot for the night, so far always gets me 2 tiers higher or more.
personally, I like empathy, as they tend to come with some nice boosts if you pick the right pet for the job you're tryna accomplish. Dominance has always seemed pretty useless to me, as i've never gotten a really effective build out of it, vs the things I can accomplish with Wisdom, or Empathy, sometimes even Int, I guess it's something I got from playing demonologist for a long time.
In any event I only went with dominance that time because I saw flash fire could be effected by crits, figured having enough points in that area, and the evocation efficiency spell , maybe throw interrogator or archivist in the mix would boost it by a large margin, but that didn't happen.
Yes, I know what abbreviations are, and dump isn't really all that hard to understand what it means. been playing for some odd months now.
Wasn't aware that this was advancing too quickly, but I don't see how unlocking all this now is a bad thing, I don't think I get less powder than I did before, can always just keep collecting it and craft more items, it's not like the progression has gotten slower than it was before, right now i'm just focused on getting more attribute points and mysteries, so really- idle play.
This is just me tryna figure out my own niche style with umbramancer.
I do think I need to pick up Ebonsand though. but i'd need to exile since i've been idle for well over 30 minutes, watching youtube and waiting on voidfiend to level to 99.
Although this one seems to.
I guess I found a build that works for him finally, with enough insight, a new auto double click mouse, no longer being able to craft any more items, ebonsand being unlocked, and finding the right combo between items and attributes.
I managed to get umbramancer to build more ls than it drains, even with eclipse and all the others on reckless.
and I gotta say. it's still not worth it.
you build profits quickly ergo mysteries, but not as quickly as you would say voidmancer, chronomancer, alchemist, or even prodigy.
right now i've gotta crafting resources boosting run going, trying to get all my items to legendary, see how well they do in their ultimate tier with the new bonus'.
but the more and more I do this, the more and more it shows me that said classes will still be better in the end, solely because the items I upgrade to legendary have alotta stats I could see helping out voidmancer, chronomancer, etc..
so in the end, I think umbramancer isn't really my thing, I don't see him being all too useful outside of having the best bursting phase out of the bunch.
but yeah, he's not bad, I just don't see him being worth all the trouble I went thru to get him.
in any case, I unlocked alchemist recently, he's decent, easy to handle, I don't see him being a real good mystery booster either. that being said though, I haven't exactly left him on overnight, so i'll see how well he'll burn out.
trying to find a good class to get mysteries churning, so i can move on to ironsoul, see how much I like him.
thinking voidmancer, maybe chrono or exo.
anyways, happy holidays.
thanks for the help.
