Game refuses to start

I tried running the set up and the game itself. When running the setup, it brings up this DOS looking window, which stays on screen for a few moments, then it closes and the game never starts up. I don't even get an error to report. I already verified the files through Steam, closed Steam and re-opened it but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else seen this?

I just tried running the .exe as an admin and my firewall (Comodo) says it triggered Werfault before it closed. Tried running it with compat. settings for Windows XP as well for the hell of it, but nothing seems to work. I'm running Windows 7, which Steam says works for this game.

If it doesnt have DRM on it you could try dos box - but with achievements it most likely has DRM applied. It could also be your default resolution setting you could experiment with a few things. Just some ideas as I see you still don't have any hours on it.

I just tried a few (horrible looking) resolutions to see if that would help. None of them worked (and made me remember why the higher resolutions look so good!) Do you have any other ideas? It really seems like nobody else is having this issue.

I bought the game on gamersgate and had issues starting the game and found that the permissions were not set properly.

Anoter possible issue is that it couldn't find the PhysX dlls.. Install the latest PhysX from Nvidia then copy PhysXLoader.dll and cudart32_60.dll to the game's "win32" folder..

@ FleetCommand: I copied the files and I still get that moment of black screen before it crashes. I'll double check that I have the latest files and try again.

@ Sysgen: What permissions did you change to get it working?

When you look at the permissions just make sure your username is there and enable all privs for yourself. You know, read, write, execute etc.... Just do that for that game directory and all sub folders files. When I did this it was for the gamersgate version and that did work.
