METAL EDEN

METAL EDEN

Some demo feedback
Thought I'd make a post for the devs to highlight some issues I had with the demo. For context, I'm running the game on Void Linux using the latest Proton 9.0 build, with an AMD 5800X3D and an Nvidia 5080 on a 1440p 115hz ultrawide monitor.

- The keybindings list seemed to display the wrong key in some scenarios. For example, if I changed melee from the default `F` to `mouse 4` (first thumb button), it would continue to display `F`. Also, it would be ideal if you could add secondary mappings for each actions, and make sure none of the actions cannot be unbound or rebound to another key, such as scroll up and down (in shooters, I like to unbind next and previous weapon and instead bind specific weapons to them).

- Sometimes, scrolling wouldn't change my weapon. Kinda annoying in the middle of fights if I try to change weapons and nothing happens or the swap is delayed.

- I experienced performance issues when there were a number of enemies on screen, specifically just when I moved my mouse around, I'd get drops from ~100-110fps to ~50-60fps. This was extremely noticeable to me and ultimately was the reason I stopped playing the demo.

- Also had a few moments of what I assume was shader compilation stutter.

- Balance-wise, I found myself running out of ammo a lot and just running around until I found some more or resorting to just melee'ing things. Melee having a short cooldown/delay before being able to do it again made it feel sluggish and unresponsive.

- Mouse sensitivity doesn't go low enough.

- Parkour felt okay, but I had a couple of moments where I wanted to look around whilst wall running and fell off because I looked too far away. Please consider changing this.

- Some sound effects, mostly during the pre-rendered cutscenes seemed either nonexistent or extremely quiet/muffled. As an aside, pre-rendered cutscenes in a game of this visual quality felt pretty jarring. Mandatory raytracing but lower res, compressed videos?
