Weird flashing black objects/shaders
I have a weird issue that I'm hoping someone else has been able to solve.

Sometimes when playing I got this weird black flashing. It lasts for a single frame and can vary in how much flashes black. Sometimes the whole scene goes black, leaving just the UI, while other times it's just the textures/shaders while the geometry remains. There is no rhyme or reason for when it occurs. It can happen in any area of the map at any time, even in cutscenes. Sometimes it happens multiple times in quick succession while other times it will only happen once.

I have an RTX 4090 and 12700k. I'm running the game maxed on with RT turned off, though RT seems to have no effect on the problem.

I've tried a number of possible solutions, including but not limited to:
  • Deleting the shader cache
  • Toggling HDR on/off
  • Changing refresh rates
  • Removing all mods
  • Turning off full screen optimizations
  • Turning off volumetric fog
  • Trying different settings
  • Turning vsync on/off
  • Turning gsync on/off

It seems to me this is some kind of weird shader issue. Has anyone else seen this?

I also have this issue :( It seems to get more frequent the longer I have had the game open for that session but I am not 100%/haven't really tested that theory much. Did you ever figure it out? It has been happening to me ever since the newest game update. I have tried doing all the steps you did as well and nothing helped.
Many gamers have problems when using a 4090-GPU - me too. No idea, no hope. All other games are running well, so it is not a problem of the hardware or the drivers. The devs had have a bad day and no one was controlling their work properly.
I possibly have the same issue as you have. I found no solution other than that it wasn't the case before the January game update where they added the mods but I can't be bothered to do a manual rollback. I played for 40+ hours back in December during winter break with no issues and 2080 handled the game so well. Then the update drop and I went back to finish the game and I have the flickering issues you describe.

The way I see it, it's the game assets. It's not the screen itself. Like the world (rocks, ground etc) flicker for a split second at irregular intervals. Same happens to menu assets.

Absolutely not a hardware issue on my, or your side.
Tried several (newer and older) drivers, refresh rate, gsync, all graphic options just as you have. It's a game problem, maybe compatibility with whatever we have inside of our computers.

i'll actually turn off xmp and cpu overlock to see if it makes a difference now. idk, just trying something lol

I get these smudges around my character whenever I move the camera.
This happens with both native and upscaled modes, which makes me think TAA is the issue.
I have also strange flickering/black flashes. Restarting the game "fix" the problem for a while, but it eventually come back anyway. Did not have this problem when I played the game aound year back
I encounter that flashing effect, it usually happens going from map to game or from dialogue to game. I think it may have something to do with DLSS and framegen and gsync running together or running in a combination of either.
