First Year Day 1 Question Regarding Walking

Hello Wizards and Witches, I'm new and I was wondering if anyone could please help me with a question I have, it's pretty simple one I think but I can't seem to find what i'm looking for.

I use a mouse and keyboard and i'd like to be able to walk around until I choose not to walk around. I currently have to press C to walk which is fine but after I let off the motion key it boots me back to running and I don't want to run around some places like a crazy Wizard in training, I'd like to walk around slowly and explore the environment i'm in.

Right now I press C anytime I walk and after I stop I have to press C again before moving, was wondering if there's any way to lock the walking movement?
