Get it now or wait for the supposed Director's Cut?
I think this is the first time HL fell this low on offer? Should I go for it or wait for the DC that could be announced soon?

They are busy making Hogwarts Legacy 2, doubt there will be any directors cut for first one.
It seems to just be vaporware right now. If you look up "Hogwarts Legacy Director's Cut" on Google, all you get are unverified rumours and wishful thinking, dressed up as articles. Nothing from an official source.

So I wouldn't hold my breath. Might as well get it now, if the price is right. On the off chance that a director's cut ever does get released, I'm sure there'll be an upgrade path to it for current owners.

At this point the "Directors Cut" is just a rumor. The last thing we heard from Avalanche is that there are no plans for further DLC. That was over 2 years ago.

The most likely scenario is that we do not get further DLC, Avalanche has confirmed that a sequel is a big priority for them now and job postings shortly after Quidditch champions came out indicate that it is at least in pre-production if not being actively produced.

Avalanche had nothing to do with Quidditch Champions

i recommend not buying, according to their eula and privacy policy, they can collect any file saved on your pc + any keystrokes, this game apparently contains a keylogger, and to play this game you have to agree to them getting that data.

Wouldn't surprise me if some sort of remaster came out just before the sequel, to drum up interest for it. Who knows how far away that is though.

They can go ahead and release the special edition if they continue to leave AI generation of performances out of it like they have so far, but they need to settle their business with SAG-AFTRA/NAVA before I buy into another WB Games game. Hopefully, Portkey will levy some restrictions on the next Wizarding World game that respect the artists and remove the game from being struck (since all new productions started after the strike are struck and need individual assurances before being unstruck).

I'm really not pro-union for the majority of time as they're often just bullies (and SAG-AFTRA tried to bully one creator I know personally for working on an indie project outside SAG-AFTRA's jurisdiction... a project that won indie awards including his music), but I also personally know a few others on the other side of the production line. This AI stuff is not just lazy, unnuanced poor quality that lowers our expectations but also robs talented people deserving of jobs. It does this in the name of those performers without their permission.

WB Games, Epic, Microsoft's Activision (just Activision—wish M$ would take a stand), EA, Take 2, and a couple of other holdouts are currently struck on all their new projects after the strike began. Everyone else essentially signed onto protecting performers' performances without a second's thought long before the strike and without needing any threats. Just those big names who think their names are so big that they can do what they want.

E: What I find ironic is that Activision, a Microsoft property, refused to guarantee performer protections against AI, but Microsoft AI services actively avoid using content that's not PD or explicitly licensed for it. (M$ Copilot and Designer are very limited because of this, but at least, they're being pro-active on this whole deal.)

Another irony is how M$ AI services are based on OpenAI designs but OpenAI claims that they (OpenAI) should be allowed free access to all content for training because (in summary) "China is doing it" even though M$ seems to be rejecting the notion.
