Looks OK but ....
Obviously limited to the Hogwarts and Hogsmead areas and immediate surroundings, doesnt seem you can journey to Diagon Alley or London unfortunately or any other locations from the films. Without all of the famous characters we know its going to possibly be a little unimmersive for a lot of fans. Its basically just an RPG within a quite limited Harry Potter setting. I suppose they may do some expansions adding other areas etc but overall not massively captivated by it tbh.

People starts to have huge expectations from this. Expect nothing and you will be fine. You expect to have all freakin locations playable from movies ? Lol good luck with that.

Why would you wanna go to London when you literally have hogwarts and hogsmeade? :S

Because Diagon Alley, The Night Bus, Leaky Cauldron, Minstry of Magic, Gringotts, Quidditch Stadiums etc - all great environments that you would expect to see in good a Harry Potter RPG. Theres precious little around Hogwarts. And they could have taken the player across to America and Romania etc. Big opportunity missed, I think the game might feel rather claustrophobic after a while. And they seem to be adding a lot of locations in the game (hamlets) that will mean nothing to Harry Potter fans, unless they each have a load of individual character. And you can bet they will just be normal towns.

I am just getting a bad feeling about it, as the devs have been so limited in the setting of the game.

A lot of it will depend on how deep Hogwarts and Hogsmeade go. I would rather have a very deep, immersive small area rather than a massive but shallow area. however, de_Xter did get the right idea. Don't get caught up in the hype, limit your imposed expectations, and enjoy.

well they told you can go to the forbidden forest etc. so there probs will be things out of the movie :)

Or it could just be those places/areas weren't as prevalent to the Wizarding community in the late 1800's. Thus no need to have them represented in the game.
The game is called "HOGWARTS Legacy" not "Leaky Cauldron Adventures". You are expecting a separate map for London, "USA and Romania" in a Harry Potter game. Excuse me, how many scenes do we have in USA and Romania in the movies/books? I suggest looking into the Truck Simulator franchise, just imagine that you are driving the Knight Bus instead of a truck.

I think we might be able to have limited access to these locations at specific story points, but yeah I get what you're saying.

if the initial sales prove to be successful, it is not impossible for them to add more locations/contents as DLCs or some sort later on

agreed, im very worried that its going to be a game that gets finished in 20 hours with 4 locations and very very limited "RPG" aspects. we will see

I'd like to mention that the SoP shows off a ton of places, ranging from beaches and mountains to villages and ruins, not to mention dungeons and what looks to be a dragon-holding area of sorts. Don't worry about there only being four places.

Also, I doubt they'd be able to create all of London just to be explored for a bit. The time and resources wasted on something you'd only get to see for maybe <20 minutes of playtime (really, it'd only be in the beginning. You've come to Hogwarts to go to school, not to just return to London whenever) is a bit ridiculous.

As for the Knight Bus? The first engine powered one was made 16 years after we start the game. So if you're fine with one that was drawn by horse (basically a carriage but with railings on the top) then let's hope it'll be added for your sake.

I will add this though- it definitely looks like we'll have some sort of Gringotts look-a-like, if not the real deal.

Yes but my basic point is that none of the locations in the game, with the exception of the school itself, Hogsmead and the Forbidden Forest, are locations in the actual films or books. Which seems stupid in a game about Harry Potter when perhaps 75% of time was spent elsewhere of these three locations.

Not being a massive Harry Potter fan it doesnt bother me that much because its unlikely I will be buying the game myself, but my eldest daughter is very interested in this game and I cant help feeling she will be disappointed when she sees how limited it is in Harry Potter lore.

Nobody ever promised you an open world game with the entirety of Earth and the Wizarding World in it. You just imagined it. You did it to yourself.

Did you watch the trailer? What 'Harry Potter' experience and lore are you expecting? It's set before he even exists. It's a Wizarding World game...temper expectations accordingly.
