how to throw weapons that you take from them?

i got the skill where i can drag weapons away from their hands... and i upgraded so i should be able to toss back the weapon for massive dmg, but the skill never throws back the weapon

The game told you how to use Ancient Throw before you even got out of the prologue. Are you telling us that you kind of skipped over one of the most useful functions of the game, despite the game taking great care to teach it to you?

You have to use Expelliarmus on the weapon first then immediately hit R1/RB to use the ancient magic throw technique like you would with a crate or a barrel. The disarming spell doesn't work if the weapon is sheathed either which may be your issue.

i hardly ever get the "rb" prompt on weapons when i "disarm" foes. Or it is always picking up something else stupid.

Yeah when you pull the weapon you need to have it aimed that way, but if there is anything else to throw in the direction it will grab that instead.

It is the ancient magic button, "r1" for the ps gamepads, for xbox must be "rb". With my ps5 pad I always get the prompt.

Speaking of targeting, I also dislike it. I can't count the times I was aiming to a shielded enemy, and, at the last moment, switched to the nearest unprotected one.

I use an x-box controller on PC too. The button will be the RB over the right trigger. You can try using visuals. When you disarm them and their weapon flies in the air just hit RB you will either just throw a random object or the weapon. I don't always get the prompt either but it still works.

It told you early on in the game.

That happen *everyfreakingtime* So damn annoying.
Also you look straight at an enemy, Right in front of you, cast the spell, and OF COURSE the game decided you really wanted to target that dude on the other side of the map.

It say on the "room build" screen (or was it under collections?) where you get the things.
Anyway, you buy stuff from the guy in Hogsmead OR you find it in the world.

It has nothing to do with targeting to hit them with their own weapon. It's all about the right spell or ancient magic throw during the right animation.
