Horrible performance, particularly at Hogsmeade
Game had obnoxious stuttering issues in the castle, and they got outright infuriating at Hogsmeade. I've tried multiple suggestions in these threads and they do not fix the issues. I have a gtx 1080, amd ryzen 5800x, 16 gigs of ram, and it runs like ass. Turning settings down to medium does nothing. I have to close every other process on my system in order to minimize the stuttering, and it's still horrible. This performance is inexcusable and needs to be addressed asap.

I'm over 50 hours in and it's smooth as butter, some of your system specs barely meet minimum requirements so don't get upset if it runs like a hot mess.

this system with only 16 gigs is ludicrous. Double your ram and try again.

it comes down to your graphics card.

You have the minimum that is required. The game should work, but since the second patch it only runs for rich people who have money for gaming pcs.

That's not true and you give a bad advice.

16GB is minimum and for many people luxury.

awwwyeahhhbaby and faralsimbor you both post a lot of sales ploys.... Trying to get others to buy a better PC or gear, even though the minimum requirements are often given.
The game was running fine for all players before the last patch!
Are you sales specialists, paid by the game developers to force everyone to buy high-end gaming PCs?
If you two gave the money, everyone would.

Very much this, it ran fine one day, and incredibly poor the next, and i can't reverse it. The time for refund is expired, so now im stuck with a sh*t game i cant play, but got the taste of. Really sad.

Shut up bro, there is traversal stutter in Hogsmade and Hogwarts will not be optimized or fixed, wait for someone to make a mod that actually fixes it.

I agree. Have a 3080, 5700 x and 32 GB Ram and it still stutters in Hogmead and Hogwarts mostly and performance drops. It is fine in instanced areas.

GASP! Imagine playing games on a PC dedicated to gaming!!!! What an unfathomable concept!!!!

New tech forces you to upgrade because things become obsolete like a 1080 gtx.
A Model T Ford won't get you anywhere today even though it was a technological marvel at the time.

Do you not know that minimum requirements usually allow you to simply open the game and play like a slideshow or sometimes have acceptable experience if you like old console graphics and performance?
The recommended requirements usually give you a passable experience while an overkill machine will usually run the best.

Now in the case of Cyberpunk and this game amongst others I own even that may not be totally true.

The last patch did do some damage but the new Nvidia drivers are causing as much havoc. I rolled back the drivers and now play at a fairly stable although subpar for my taste 55-70 fps but I do have a gaming PC.

You could follow the suggestion on these forums and roll the game back before the patch but I guess whining about something you can fix in 20 miutes is much more productive! You might be looking for a console experience if that is the case.

I've basically built my pc to run this game smoothly and it keeps closing on me too :( its overheating even on medium settings, so sad... i7 12th gen, gtx 3060 ti, 32GB Ram DDR5 :~
I've opened the cpu and put a table fan to keep playing and it worked, but still... this game is crazy heavy
Xeyana Mar 30, 2023 @ 4:51pm
Also Elden Ring runs very well on my rig and it's a much bigger game than Hogwarts. This performance is inexcusable. Devs being too lazy to optimize is a serious issue and you shouldn't have to upgrade your hardware every 6 months just because companies won't spend the extra time to do even a tiny bit of optimization.

Yeah I'm probably gonna ask for a refund too. Might as well get a sh*tstation 5 if i want to play it, was gonna get one for FFXVI anyways.

I have a GTX 970, i7 4790K, 16 GB and have no problems except the occasional minor stuttering (which is their problem not ours). The game looks really good.

What are your graphic settings? Are you using upscaling? You should but don't use DLSS as it isn't supported on our older GTXs. Use AMD FSR 2 Quality. Turn of motion blur, film grain and vsync and set refresh rate at uncapped.

I've tried all of these and watched many guides on fixes, but the new update seems to have caused too many complications. The benchmark claims that i can run all settings on high, but i turned them down to medium and tweaked some other things too, but to no result. Hogsmeade still ran like sh*t and stuttered to hell and back, and the longer that I played in Hogwarts, the worse the performance got. I've tried closing all of my background processes, but it only bumped performance by a small margin. I've tried multiple different drivers like people suggested, but to no effect. This game is not running correctly. Again, I've never had to do this for Elden Ring which runs perfectly fine, a game from literally last year.
