[CANNOT GET DISK INFO]
So, after uninstalling and re-installing the game, and jumping through all the WB hoops involving linking accounts and completing infantile surveys, I can run HL and use previous saves.

I can also open the new Mod feature, and it looks like you'd expect from WB. But when I click a mod to install, I always get the "No Disk Info" message.

Does anyone know what this means, and how to solve the problem?

I don't know to be honest, i have allso installed 2 mods yesterday and that went well.
But after that when i wantd to play the game froze beffore generating a green and red square, i was a bit schocked beceause i thought my videocard was burned out.
Luckally that is not the case, but this up-date broke the game, more then it fixes it....

The funny thing is that I can play existing saves and create new ones. And one of my old mods (Extra Companion) still works - I'm using Prof. Garlick as a companion.

But of course, I can't manually put pak files into the ~mods folder - that crashes the game immediately, which is OK. But I was hoping that I could at least install some of the "Officially WB-Approved" mods. I just don't understand what kind disk info the game needs.
I have the same problem

Well, whoever that person on Discord was, he/she deserves a medal. I just opened the game with admin rights, and now I can install the WB-approved mods. Admittedly, I had to deal with some technical issues, e.g. re-instating all my graphics settings, but nothing serious that couldn't be remedied by a re-boot.

And a warm thank-you to you too, Flower, for relaying this information.
If running the game as administrator doesn’t help, check if Controlled Folder Access (Ransomware Protection) is enabled in Windows Security. Official Mods are first downloaded to the Documents folder which that setting in Windows Security could prevent from working. Additional issues might occur if your Documents folder is being synchronized with OneDrive.
