Also, "Reminder that you need to be online for the MODs system to work properly"
Yeah, definitely not anti-consumer and malicious at all.
Outside mods aren't being blocked. But outside mods will need to be updated to work with the new version, as per what is normal for modding games.
It's not incompetence for them to make changes to how some things work. This is perfectly normal for modding games of needing to wait for the mods to be updated to the newest version of the game.
There is no additional launcher for the game at all.
Problem here is that the Creation Kit is EGS-only. If it was hosted through WB Games' repositories, no problem. But you need to register as a mod creator with EGS which barely scrapes by on the minimum for a lot of international laws, and said platform also is owned by a company which likes to 'buy up' games and more to hold them akin to hostage to force game owners/creators to make use of their crappy platform.
And then you are forced to use CurseForge, which isn't exactly a bad platform but way less known and used than the likes of NexusMods.
In the meanwhile you also need to be linked with your WB account, so they basically can track you through all that and harvest all the data. And their TOS is a piece of flaming garbage which tries to screw you over multiple times with demands which are generally illegal outside of the US.
Blah blah blah, all pure nonsense there for petty reasons.
Really all you people are being petty. So many PC gamers really have become embarrassing to the rest of us PC gamers.
At least I completed it but it's really annoying !
Regardless of the game, mods require certain files or code from the game to work properly. When a game gets updated, those files or code can change, which means the mod no longer has the information it needs to work. The mod thus needs to change to work with the new files/code. That's how mods work for every game. Period.

This works 100%, and I am doing exactly this atm, restored all my old mods and added everything I could possibly care from Nexus, plus I backed up the already restored Hogwarts Legacy folder, so if in the future, for any reason this BS happens again, I can keep using the Summer 2024 version indefinitely and still be online.
And on my Steam deck, I'll forever stay offline and use the same mod collection.
Alternatively, if you don't feel like doing this (although it's easy and doesn't take that much effort), you are 100% justified if you want to get the game through other means, if you know what I mean.
They decided to flood the game with useless features and redundant mechanics that some users have to use some poor excuse of "It's part of modding." As if all criticism is out the window cause their unable to actually think a step or two before they walk huh.
Great, the game worked fine, mods barely broke anything, and if it did. it was very easy to fix.
Now all that is thrown out the window because they decided TWO years down the line "HEY! Let's make it easy for modders by adding a useless feature that breaks the majority of the communities' mod and demands them to not use Nexus! I'm sure they're going to LOVE it!!"
Great. Awesome hindsight huh.
I have done all the links accounts etc Cursed Forge, WB and Harry Potter, all says okay you're in but I don't know if there's one I've missed it says all of those are linked.
So my game behaves well, launched through Steam, nice graphically new player booted and everything is as normal with a couple of new things like a potion and expensive broom added.
Do I need another launcher open or something as my little button for 'play mods' is grey but has blue ribbons behind it and crashes the loading if I press it! This is continually so it's a kill or dead switch at this time.
Some players have said it works but as usual on these forums most of them do not go into exact details to how but simply say that 'i'm alright' with it.
It's still fun to play but it would be nice to get a result that doesn't tell me to go here there and everywhere on my PC files or to another site and add this to do that etc
The actual community is not helping by simply complaining or flaming the actual title!
