Crash on launch
Been running the game perfectly ever since December but now you decided you want to implement something and it crashes on launch, how can you achieve this performance???

Got the same problem, game crashes while preparing shaders. I never used mods.
Errormessage is:
"Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resoloution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting..."
Well i guess a 4090 should have enough memory.. at least it did hundreds of hours playtime before the last update..
The last time i fixed this by deleting the old shader datas and the local AppData folder (Except the !SAVEGAMES! ).
Now it doesn't work. Hope they can fix it soon, or deliver a solution fast...

I simply find out that might be bc ur old mod installed, so they cannot officially shaded ....
You can try:
1.deleting the mod file
or.....
2.uninstall Hodgwarts and reinstall to another SSD(more safely...

after doing2. i can launch, just FYI
P.S. but now icannot apply their official mod...WTF

I had modifications to remove the fog, I deleted those, still crashing.

+ crashing

I got rid of all my mods. Deleted and required all my files to make sure I didn't miss one. Installed some mods through the game and it loads right. I install one mod into my PAK folder (same outcome when in a ~mods folder) and the game crashes while loading the shaders. I'm not sure if it's just this one mod that's doing it or if sites like NexusMods will have to rework how to get mods working again. Still too early to say. Thankfully 98% of the mods I wanted are available through official mod support.

then Re-install it to another SSD, or make sure to uninstall completely, at least.

how to let the official mod show-up, mine didn't...
I follow all the step of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiKnhZCl2l0&t=193s
I reinstalled and still got the Crashes, another user told me to remove the Mod file inside phoenix, content - pak - mods (delete that folder) They added a feature where if it detects third party mods, it wont let you get past the shaders - Which pardon the pun, is pretty shady

If you used any of the mods/engine edits for graphic/performance tweaks delete those as well. Resetting those and clearing out old mod files worked for me.
I used Vortex and disabled all mods for the game. Let me tell you, the outcome isn't good even when you make it into the game.
I am also crashing while trying to load the game. Idk if it's due to previous mods I have and I don't feel like deleting them, esp if it's going to mess up my char and i'll have to... restart? :^(

Edit: I just deleted the old mods in paks / mods and it worked. Unfortunately not many good mods in game rn but oh well.

didnt even get a chance to mess with mods. 2 / 2 PCs i tested on instantly crashed to desktop when the main menu showed up.

The most recent update is causing hiccups and makes the game unplayable !!! What have you done ?!

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Still crashes before the dreadful shader compilation.....
