FEEDBACK: Why must ALL Mods disable Achievements?
I can understand disabling Achievements for Mods that enable the player to cheat, but there are plenty of Mods which are completely cosmetic.

It's a real bummer having to choose between using cosmetic Mods to customize your character/NPCs and retaining the ability to earn Achievements. Granted that Achievements aren't everything, but it seems unfair that all Mods are treated as if they're cheats even when they are not, so using any given Mod removes a feature from the game altogether.

With the system as it is, Mods might as well be reserved exclusively for subsequent playthroughs once the player has earned the majority of Achievements, but seeing as Hogwarts Legacy lacks a New Game PLUS feature or alternate routes, the prospect of doing multiple playthroughs isn't very attractive to begin with.

Ultimately, this is EXTREMELY disappointing to me because I've been playing all this time with Mods, and up until today once Mods became officially supported, I was able to use them and earn Achievements at the same time!
Heck, folks have already been able to potentially cheat with Mods and still earn Achievements for the past 2 years, so why even bother imposing such a restriction at this point?

If nothing else, there ought to be an option to have submitted Mods certified as non-cheats so that they can be freely used without disabling Achievements.

What are you talking about? I have The Goblet Overhaul's Vanilla Balanced+Vivarium mod and Mouse Controls for Broom and both my game runs fine and I have gotten achievements. I got the broom one because of the atrocious broom controls while trying to complete one race and after the mod was installed I got the achievement for beating all the race times. Don't assume ALL mods prevent achievement progress if you haven't used ALL the mods made for the game...

Did you download these mods from the new in-game modding menu? Because Nexus mods don't block achievements. It's the new system that does as it flags the save file as "modded."

That's the problem, once you've unlocked all of the Achievements there isn't much of a reason to continue playing.
Eh, someone will come out with an "Enable Achievement Progress" soon.

There is a programm called "Steam Achievement Manager" with this you can get all achievements, but you can also set them off, to do them again.
Just a tip.

I did get them from Nexus. OP said they have been using mods for the past 2 years. I only know of mods being on Nexus during that time period. OP said ALL mods disable achievements, which were likely obtained from Nexus but they don't say, when not ALL mods disable achievements.
let players get achievements while having mods on. there's already a steam achievement unlocker which already counters their arguement of "well they might get achievements illegally by using mods"..
Loads of bs but im more concerned with the GDPR opt out of selling data not working for EU customers.

I generally didn't have issues with Nexus mods. The new mods accessible from in-game straight up block all achievements though.

OP refers to "ALL MODS BLOCK ACHIEVEMENTS" meaning all types of mods (e.g., cosmetic, audio, gameplay). Not where the mod comes from. Which makes the most sense anyway and coincides with the official release of mods. Why would a mod adding a mustache to your character affect achievements in the first place (in a single player game)? It's straight up moronic.

The game is not capable of knowing which mods will affect the intended challenges for achievements.

Blocking cheevos is not a new thing. The most popular games with mod support often disable cheevos with mods.

Reenabling cheevos is up to the modder, not the developer. Modding comes with some responsibilities.
The fact that many other companies are likewise guilty of pointlessly denying Achievements to those who make use of Mods doesn't make it any less of an asinine decision on their part.

There's simply no logic in adding a new feature which in turn disables an existing feature.

is actually possible, since is done in many games and this game uses a file structure that would allow to deduct what a mod affects, so you are fake news buddy!!! :steammocking:

The decision to block achievements is maybe to speed run the implementation of this mod system.

There's no point in blocking achievements at all, those are made for the player, who is playing the way he wants, achieving what he wants the way he wants...

Curious choice.

Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me? That's what the modded save BS is for? I thought that was just some failsafe they did if people wanted backup or something. I had no idea it disabled achievements.
Yep, it's extremely unnecessary, but seeing as the developers haven't been responding to any of the criticism they've received so far, I'm not enthusiastic about them doing anything about it, so I'm hoping that eventually modders will find a way to get their mods working again without the need of the in-game system so that Achievements aren't blocked.

As near as I can figure, the developers must have been operating under the assumption that after 2 years, the playerbase at large has already beaten the game and unlocked all the Achievements they care to, so nobody would miss Achievements.

Honestly now that the game OFFICIALLY SUPPORTS MODS, why would it keep achievements from getting achieved.

Yhea,if you turn on any mod ,it will disable them, you get a warning in-game when you go into the Mods tab.
Using mods the old way (putting the files in the Pak folder) doesn't work anymore, the game won't load or it will crash.
i am just using nexus mods and put them into the mods folder. According to the nexus community, others do the same and even Hogwarts mod merger was updated for the new game version. Game just crashed when you use mods that change your outfit etc when they are not updated. other mods like Immersive, Goblet, curvew and vivarium mods run as before. just not updated cosmetic mods often cause a crash.

Only reason I had reinstalled the game last week was because of the official mods. After finding out they disable mods, yeah, that put the game back onto the shelf.

While googling around, apparently someone figured it out how to get around it last week. He didn't share how he did it though and hasn't answered the couple of comments asking. So, either he's got good editing skills on the video showing that he got it working or Portkey sent the Aurors after him.
