I try to start the game, but nothing happens.
Disable GPU hardware acceleration doesn´t help.
What can i do?

If "nothing happens" means you see a black screen appear, just wait. It is compiling shaders.

If you don't see even that, check Windows Event Viewer and under ...\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Logs for whether the game crashed before launching properly.

Whatever your user's home directory is the "...". Probably yours is "C:\Users\_username_".

If you can't see an AppData folder under your home dir, tell Windows to stop hiding things marked with the "Hidden" attribute from you.

This game streams textures heavily between your VRAM and normal system RAM.
Check the size of your pagefile and make sure that the max size is at least 32 GB.

What nVidia driver are you using? What do the logfiles say?
(Use pastebin.com if you can't figure out the relevant part.)

I had the same problem. Check "emp.dll" in your Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64 directory. If it’s not there, just download it from the Internet and put it in a folder. You can also check the integrity of files from the launcher, but this may take a lot of time

Make sure the game is not running in the background. If it is - kill it.

Go to ‘C:\Users<your-user>\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved’ and delete everything except for the ‘SaveGames’ folder (if you have it)

Next go to ‘C:\ProgramData\Hogwarts Legacy’ and delete everything except for the ‘NotAllowedUnattendedBugReports’ file

Start the game and it should take some time to properly prepare the shader cache for real this time and let you in

Hi, I have the game on an alternate Steam account. I have almost the same rig as you. 4090 and 13900K played on 4K. Everything went smooth until it did not want to launch with a black screen. You can try playing Fortnite or other games like Darktide where your GPU has to compile shaders. If any of those games crash for you, then unfortunately you will have to reinstall Windows. Hogwarts corrupts the shader cache for your GPU and I do not recommend anyone to play it with the similar rig for the time being.

Ok just to clarify to the OP and people who do not know who may read this thread in the future. The only dll file you should find in, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64", with the HogwartsLegacy.exe is the EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll file. The EMP.dll file is for the cracked version of the game and people need to be careful where they download that file from because it can be used to do all sorts of fun stuff to your PC. No wonder the OP is having so many problem. Ya'll giving bootleg tech advice for the legit version of the game. lol Wow! Lmao!!!!:steamfacepalm:

It's an issue with your CPU. Go into your motherboard bios and set PL1 limit to 150w and PL2 limit to 250. The CPU has a defect that's revealed in the way DX12 works with the latest versions of Windows.

Thanks mate. I'm going to add on to this as well too.

If it's a DX12 issue then this may help the OP if she decides to tackle it again or anyone else for that matter. I also have additional instructions pinned in comments on how to force the game in to DX11.

i just fixed this last night what worked for me was renaiming the "config" file to "configbk" in the directory it makes the game rebuild the config and allowed my game to launch before it was crashing my whole pc

Do this.... The problem is the shader cache. Nothing more. Once you're in the came make sure to disable Ray Tracing, also known to cause massive issues.

Make sure the game is not running in the background. If it is - kill it.

Go to ‘C:\Users<your-user>\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved’ and delete everything except for the ‘SaveGames’ folder (if you have it)
