Alteration Spell - how to adjust size?

I play with keyboard. Tried up and down arrows, W and S keys (both move the object around), mouse wheel (rotates), looked at key bindings... there is no help on screen. How does this work? I need to finish that quest.
Very frustrating.

And minutes after I post this - for anyone having the same issue. Size adjust apparently does not work for crafting stations, only for decosations such as the clock.
The keys are Y and X on QWERTZ (I assume they may be Z and X on QWERTY)
