My games with mods won't open
Does anyone else have this problem with their modded games not opening? I hit continue or create a new character and it's like I didn't do anything, it doesn't load and much less gives any signs that it's going to open, I've had several problems with the mods section that I've resolved, but I don't know what it is or how to solve it, I don't know if it's due to the February 27 update that the mods section has been having too many problems lately, but it's tiring having to install and uninstall the game to see if that works, do you have another solution?

I'm having the same issue, I'm trying to delete or uninstall them but that's not working either.

are you using the game mods or nexus mods

I also had this issue and after troubleshooting, I think I've got a fix. Or at least, I'm doing something that is working consistently.

If you're using the in-game mod system and not mods from the Nexus, then what you'll want to do is go to "Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Mods" where you should see mods you've installed and enabled. Delete everything from this folder.

Yes, that seems crazy, but while I was trying to figure out the problem for myself I noticed that the contents of this folder would change. Sometimes deleting mods and sometimes adding them.

If you're concerned, you can backup these mods somewhere else, but I did that too. I even tried copying and pasting them back into the "...\Mods" folder, but that didn't fix the issue.

Good news, your mods are still installed and your load order should remain unchanged. All you need to do now is load the game as usual. It may take a moment and your shaders will probably need to reshade, but if you're at this point then it's working!

Only problem is that every time you exit the game, before you launch it again you will need to delete everything from "Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Mods". Every. Single. Time.

Hope this helps!

the game mods, I've already seen that the game doesn't run Nexus mods.

The truth is the solutions with this game are crazy, before the mods wouldn't download and what worked (and the only thing) was uninstalling Steam, so I'm going to trust you and I'm going to do what you told me to see if it works, I'll keep you updated.

I have checked the folder, and it seems that I don't even have a mods folder created, what happens?:steamfacepalm:

Now that is interesting.

Just to be sure - you do have mods installed and enabled, yes? I only ask because if you're working with a fresh install of the game, then I don't want to give you bad advice.

Quick Update: I did a quick Google search and came across this reddit thread.

Did this maybe happen to you?

My save files isn't compatible with the July 2024 update. Every time I load in it boots me back to the menu. I tried each save I have.

I am using the game mods and I am having the same issue. I even disabled 27 mods and tried one enabled mod on the modded game file and still can't get the modded game file to load up but the regular unmodded file I can load up just fine.

I'm having the same issue and I am using the official game mods. It worked fine this morning until I decided to install The Flooded Laboratory mod. The game is not recognizing any of my mods cause when I try to play it takes me to my unmodded saves.
A few weeks ago, I was unable to load my modded save. Was disabling mods on my modded save until I only had one active, and still the game wouldn't start... but it would if I disabled ALL mods. Unmodded games worked fine, but I couldn't even start a new file with even a single one of my mods active.

I believe I have just fixed this, it may not stay fixed but I'd like to report what just seems to have worked. So my in-game mod menu was showing everything installed, but my Mods folder (for in-game mods) was lacking a bunch of folders. Don't know what happened but I decided to start fresh and it seems to be working so far.

  1. Delete "Mods" folder (for in-game mods, NOT for Nexus mods). As far as I know, this can't be set/changed, and the game just throws it in your current user's Documents folder. I've deleted this many times and it has had no ill effects except having to re-download mods.
    Mine was at:
    C:\Users\Joey\Documents\Hogwarts Legacy\Mods
  2. Uninstall all of your in-game mods one by one and reinstall. I recommend adding what you want to keep to "favorites". I uninstalled everything at once and am reinstalling one at a time just to make sure this keeps working.

I'm thinking the game's ability to verify what's installed and what isn't broke, and so it stopped reporting when it couldn't detect installed mods... Now as to why my Mods folder seems to have randomly deleted a bunch of my mods, I can't answer that, but I decided starting fresh was the easiest solution. We'll see if the issue happens again.

Yes, I had more than 20 mods installed, and in fact, yes! That's what happened to me. The mods folder moved to another location... It was the strangest thing that ever happened to me.

  3. [/quote]Now that I found the mods folder I think I'll do that, thank you very much!
