Confrigo > Incendio?
Once your student gets Confringo, do you stop having the student use Incendio altogether?

Incendio gets the opportunity to AOE in around you. So, I think, there are still uses. Especially with the traited Accio. (e. g. pull multiple enemies to you and cast Incendio to make all of them burn... Works great on spiders...)

I just got the confringo-spell, so I don't realy know, if the fire-effect is the same. But it's a fact, that Incendo=short-ranged (instant 360°) AOE, while Confringo=far-ranged single-target. (with splitting slow-moving missiles) Especially with traits.

So, no, I still use incendio.
It depends on the situation: when there are a lot of enemies (especially in closed spaces like dungeons) I used "Incendio" (sometimes I used the combo "Accio", "Levioso", "Incendio" and, if I needed, "Depulso"), otherwise I used "Confringo".
Both spells are essentials against inferi and very useful against spiders, especially with the perks of skills tree.

For the other spells I used a lot the combo "Levioso" and "Diffindo" against dugbogs.

Edit:
I correct one my mistake. I had written "Incendio" instead of "Confringo".

The way I'd put it is, once their talents are considered, confringo is better for single targets and incendio better for groups, especially when you pair upgraded incendio and upgraded accio.
...and with the enhanced spells mod, there are even more fire-based variants: A bombarda-l.ike one (Reducto) and a depulso-like one (expulso) (could also be vice-versa. There is only a text-description for those spells. The video shown is that of the last non-mod-spell, so it isn't true.)

The meintioned spells are cut ones, so they're just added to your list. (and unlocked from the beginning...) They even work for some orders of your teachers. (like ignitieng the fire-bowls, after you got teached the confringo, for example.)

The only downside of this mod is, that you have to restart the game from time to time, as it starts to lag significantly. But I definitly can recommend this.

This mod has also a full-function non-defending stupify variant (with a long cool-down, but working perks.) and some yellow control-spells (a non-dellusion, longe-range-variant of Petrificus, for example.) There is only one edditional blue spell, however.

But there is also Apparation, This is one of the best spells of this mod, imho. (it's a combat-version, e. g. a short-range apparation with a two-step-cast. first you will select the destination, and second you activate it. Sadly, it's non cancellable to my experience, e. g. the second action, regardless of what, will allways teleport you to the destination.)
I use Confrigo much more because of the range and AOE with the talent, Incendio is on my 2nd line, I used when enemies are close to break their shield and ignite them
