I just got the confringo-spell, so I don't realy know, if the fire-effect is the same. But it's a fact, that Incendo=short-ranged (instant 360°) AOE, while Confringo=far-ranged single-target. (with splitting slow-moving missiles) Especially with traits.
So, no, I still use incendio.
Both spells are essentials against inferi and very useful against spiders, especially with the perks of skills tree.
For the other spells I used a lot the combo "Levioso" and "Diffindo" against dugbogs.
Edit:
I correct one my mistake. I had written "Incendio" instead of "Confringo".
The meintioned spells are cut ones, so they're just added to your list. (and unlocked from the beginning...) They even work for some orders of your teachers. (like ignitieng the fire-bowls, after you got teached the confringo, for example.)
The only downside of this mod is, that you have to restart the game from time to time, as it starts to lag significantly. But I definitly can recommend this.
This mod has also a full-function non-defending stupify variant (with a long cool-down, but working perks.) and some yellow control-spells (a non-dellusion, longe-range-variant of Petrificus, for example.) There is only one edditional blue spell, however.
But there is also Apparation, This is one of the best spells of this mod, imho. (it's a combat-version, e. g. a short-range apparation with a two-step-cast. first you will select the destination, and second you activate it. Sadly, it's non cancellable to my experience, e. g. the second action, regardless of what, will allways teleport you to the destination.)
