What time is it in-game?

Is there a way to tell the time?
I know you can switch between day and night via the map but sometimes it seems impossible to tell if it's dawn or dusk. I have just hit "Wait" during a darkish period that I thought to be night, and I woke up in exactly the same darkness ^^ There seems to be no clock or anything in game, but I was wondering are there any other clues that I could look out for to tell the time? Like, idk, certain NPCs or fauna being around only in the morning, or sth like that.

There is no clock other than clock tower and i'm not sure it works.

I find it quite irritating that there is no clock, too. And, as you pointed out, most of the time it is impossible to distinguish dawn from dusk. I've never been in a game that didn't have some sort of clock or time feature.

I tried that, too, but it didn't help! I was in Hogsmeade and tried to look East to see if it's sunrise, but it was cloudy so it was impossible to tell whether the sun was rising or setting. If you happen to need to advance time in these transition periods you can get stuck in a dawn/dusk cycle, unable to tell which part of the day it is. Quite silly, really.

You can change day or night in the map. The current time is not important in this game.

it would be a nice, but it is impossible to know if you're at night or day when you "wait", it looks exactly the same.

it is if you want to know what the train appears

If you pause the game and enter photo mode, on the menu that appears at the bottom of the list it will say 'TIME OF DAY' and it will tell you the time from the moment you enter photo mode in a 24 hour clock

It is for astronomy tables. The stars are out ... but apparently it's still not nighttime :/
