Really?
No way developers screwed over those who use Nexus. Are there any official words on this?

Hogwarts Legacy has included Denuvo anti-tamper since day one and has never supported Steam workshop or third-party mods. Now you're surprised that it still isn't Nexus-friendly?

Very surprised. It's one thing to prevent it in a day one patch, or shortly after. But 2 years later, weird. Either way, I can and will revert back. It's just annoying that they did this to favour their own mods portal. As for Denuvo, it's not exactly used to prevent mods, it's more to protect the game files. You would need EAC to prevent mods and cheats.

That said, do you have an official word on why they made this change from nowhere?

Anti-tamper is used to protect the game executables against changes, which protects DRM and also prevents a wide range of mods which want to change the game code.

EAC is explicitly for multiplayer cheat detection.

Nope. But I'd imagine that WB didn't want to support modding at all, but the existence of enough popular mods over at Nexus meant they'd rather implement their own mod system so they can control it better.

Otherwise, they'd just roll with Nexus or add Steam workshop.
I have a question and please correct me if I"m wrong. They won't allow NEXUS mods (third party) but allow their mods which comes from CURSEFORGE which would be (third party) I see that Hodwarts Legacy name on this site but that would mean they are paying WB

Thank you kindly. This however isn't useful since I want to keep my mods. I'm currently rolling back to the previous version, which is a bit tedious, but it must be done.

I don't think they hate mods. They probably just wanna avoid the confusion when people install Nexus mods that don't work and complain over at their own forums. Before the update, any mod issues were mostly asked on Nexus, or Steam perhaps.

That said, the game's using UE. It's virtually impossible to prevent modding since Unreal supports it.

EAC is solely for multiplayer games. BUT. Ubisoft uses it in almost every game they have, even their singleplayer titles. Granted, they do have in game stores and what not. But it still tries to prevent people from modding the game, which is futile since all their games have mods on Nexus.

Anyways, still sad that they turned around and prevented Nexus after two years. I assume the current method requires some account linkage or something, which is rather disappointing.

Very much so, but they're sadly the best source for mods. It's like Steam for games, but Steam is in this case very good. Or Coca Cola company over some weird copy.

Every mod in official support is useless if you care about getting achievements. And most of the official mods are pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ except for like 4 or 5. 90% of people prefer Nexus, so they effectively made a mod support system nobody wants and it seems like a huge portion of people reverted back including myself. I just see this as gatekeeping ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Like there's clearly people at WB who want some form of control over the mods published otherwise Nexus support would've been implemented in some way.

Every single game who implemented their own mod portal is losing against Nexus. It's just a waste of resources for something that wasn't needed at all.

Take a look at the download for the revert method on Nexus. HUGE, literally so many people. And it's so simple too, so far. Haven't completed the process yet.

Nexus aren't untrustworthy either, so I don't understand. They scan their own files, bad mods are removed fast, people comment about the issues until resolved. They have their own launcher that should make it easier to install mods, but whatever. Point is that Nexus is trustworthy, so installing mods from there should be supported officially.

No. None of them work. You have to first update (DON'T LAUNCH INTO YOUR PROFILE) the game, then you can downgrade. Luckily it's straight forward.

There's a video tutorial here.
https://www.nexusmods.com/hogwartslegacy/mods/2261

Short explanation. Re-download older files of the game, remove the current ones, replace them, then tell a acf file to be in Read Only mode. It's nothing complicated. It's only time consuming depending on your internet speed.

Edit: Of course completely shut down Steam before you replace the replace the files.

Edit 2: I finished my process earlier. Put all my mods back and everything worked just fine.

PS. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR MODS.

- ???:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods

And those in the Paks folder if there are any mods there. I had a few.

Edited it a bit. But yeah, it's cool. Everyone deserves to play the game using mods, and especially the way they want.

It really is, but oh well. I'm used to being disappointed.
