You can't be a good wizard if you don't get your life in order starting with cleaning your wizard dorm room.
When I read that in my head it was in the voice of Peterson well done you nailed it.
In order to be good you have to be willing to be a monster, to recognize that that part of you is intrinsic to your very being and your security. It is important to recognize the shadow, as told by Jungian philosophy, because getting in touch with it is part of being a better person and knowing that the world is dark and dangerous.
Being virtuous means having the capacity and willingness to do harm and then choose not to do so. Clean the dorm room, keep your personal space in order and control what you can so that when it comes time to fight for what you have you have a stake in preserving what you've built and the knowledge that you can and will protect it from those who would take it away from you.
Now, class, that is what the ancient philosophers who created the runes meant when it came to the wards of the various ancient civilizations. This class will teach you on the not only how to recognize basic runes but how to use them. It could be extremely dangerous but you have to be willing to risk danger for the potential reward within.
