Unofficial mods crash?
I hadnt played in a while and decided to jump back in and updated all mods but keep crashing saying unofficial. Are they no longer allowed since they added mod support?

Apparently.

I had a mod framework installed, but never even used mods, and today I finished all the Merlin Challenges, and didn't get the achievement for that.

This really SUCKS.
I spent hours doing it, and now I find, but I'm not going to get achievements when I didn't even USE mods.

Mod saves are completely separate from the regular saves. You have to go into a different area to even open the mod save. If you played on a save there then that's all on you. Plus your issue has nothing to do with the OP's topic.

Portkey Games Support page for HL Modding:
https://portkeygamessupport.wbgames.com/hc/en-us/sections/37227624241299

The first link on the page is "Known Issue: PC Game Client Mods" and explains that ALL 3rd Party MODs that use skeletal mesh assets that were made before the latest game patch are now broken. That means pretty much every single mod on Nexus is now broken and unusable on the current version of the game.

The article very clearly states:
If you've utilized 3rd party or unofficial MODs (Nexus Mods) and cannot launch Hogwarts Legacy, we suggest completely removing any and all locally installed MODs that fall under the category of a "Visual" MOD (a MOD that changes the character's appearance in some way/involves animation. Appearance, clothing, wands, brooms, facial presets, and mount MODs fall under this category and may be impacted). Then, verifying or reinstalling the game through Steam or Epic Games Store. To find these MODs they will typically be in the folder named ~mods.

We also suggest uninstalling any Mod Manager programs, as these may cause issues.

There's lots of information to be found on the internet regarding official mods for Hogwarts Legacy. There's even a pinned discussion right here in the Steam discussions titled "Official Mods FAQ"! A little research first can often prevent much grief later on! :lunar2019piginablanket:

Thankyou very much for the info. I was definitely not aware that all the mods I used were going to be broken. (my issue for not looking, I should have known better from prior modding) I was just blind cause the mods I used were game changing (just QOL) and had hopes they wouldnt be broken. Again though thankyou for ur time to explain.

No worries, happy to help. The whole official mod thing is still somewhat new and most players are still learning what they can and cannot do. I've seen a few comments that contradict other comments, so that just leads to confusion and makes it difficult to actually know what works and doesn't work. My general rule is to just research at first and, if you still have questions that you can't find answers for, then try asking and hope others can fill in the missing info.
I've only installed "official mods" accessible through the game's menu and my game crash after playing for a few minutes...
