How long does it take to get the first Broom Upgrade?

I'm new to the game and I got my broom a few days ago and I completed the mission tied to it to unlock the broom upgrades but nothing happened after that. I looked online and from what I can tell I need to wait and "after some time" Mr. Weekes will contact me about the upgrade. How long exactly does this take? I feel like I've played about 12 hours at least since I finished that quest.

I seem to have figured this out, so if anyone looks up this question here's the answer: Once Chapter 2/Autumn passes Mr. Weekes will reach out for the first broom upgrade, which costs 1,000 gold. This will also start the next race challenge; which is far to the south on the map.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying. You pretty much just have to keep progressing and doing side quests. I only have the second upgrade and I'm nearly 40 hours in

I think the second race challenge is in the south area. Opening up that region is probably one thing you need to do. You get the upgrade to test it on the second race. It does seem to be tied to your level so completing quests is helpful.

I've ran the first test, weekes says he will have the upgrade soon. several days later, still ZERO upgrade for the broom.
